Make a Jeep!...you know REAL 4WD (w/4Lo), solid axles, and bring back the I6!! I really like the Liberty KJ renegade with the flat hood, but just add a solid axle. Perfect Jeep! But of course that will never happen. Oh well!

What ever happened to the JEEP Rescue? Ah, no we don't want to compete with HUMMER.

We'd rather build another subaru ( compass ).

I second, third, fourth etc. the Gladiator concept!!! Now that my Liberty is paid off, I would GLADLY buy a Gladiator in a heartbeat! I had a '99 Dodge Ram prior to owning the Lib and I miss the hauling abilities. I still love my Jeep though and would like to remain loyal to the brand since I've had absolutely ZERO major problems or issues with it!

GLADIATOR! Since my Libby is paid off i've been putting money away for a rainy day. By the time they get it to the dealers lots i should have enough to put down a 50% down payment.

I agree, the major hole in the Jeep lineup is a pickup. But without gizmos, doo-dads, bells and whistles. Just a plain truck. Bench seat would be fine. Don't even need a radio.

Isn't that called a JK unlimited?

I have driven both, and except for the aftermarket I cannot see where the 4.0L I6 has anything on the 3.7L IMHO.

I'd go for a Gladiator. I liked the gladiator trucks from the 60's. And I like Gladiator movies. 8)

The JK has a 3.8L V6!!!...... I want a 4.2L(258) I6 ..can't compare that to the KJ. I think your thinking of a Yj motor they were 4L I6

YJ's had both the 258 (4.2) and 4.0L. the 3.8L V6 is far superior to either one. There's a reason my '82 CJ had a v8 instead of that POS I6 that came in them..

Now if we're talking something in line (no pun intended) with what Ford offers in australia with their DOHC 4.0L I6, or GM's Vortec 4200, then yes, I'd agree...but the 3.8 is what should have been in the KJ, YJ, TJ, XJ, ZJ, and WJ all along.

jeepkj02 wanted the Inline 6, the 4.0L back. Yeah, the JK does have the Grand Caravan 3.8 L. It still has (IIRC) 15 more horsepower than a 4.0. I know with the 6spd the 3.7L can lug pretty low RPM's without stalling.

I also think that the JK Unlmited looks a bit like the Rescue concept. Maybe that is the production version of the Rescue???

If I was getting my wishes, it would be a small, CJ2a-ish basic off-roader. The JK has grown pretty large.

I forgot to make my on-topic post...doh!

I'd want a KK "off road" package, similar, but not to the extreme of, the Rubicon package, to keep cost down. Limited slip diff or selectable locker out back, manual trans, all the skidplates, 2" lift over more basic models with good 245/70-17 AT's or MT's (preferably MT's), maybe make it available in flat colors like OD green, rust red, baby poo yellow...some offensive-to-the-eye colors that you won't mind tearing up:) Make it hyper-base...vinyl "carpet", optional radio delete, no center console with an exposed shifter poking through the floor with...wait, what's this? a second lever? on the FLOOR? and...what's that beside the brake pedal? an emergency brake? no, that's also beside the seat...but...OH MY GOD A CLUTCH PEDAL, why do ALL of them have it? price it around $22k and watch it HAUL booty off the lot. Just don't try to buff it, and don't try to option it. matching-color steelies only:D

I like InCommando's idea too...an entry-level ($15k-ish) basic 2.0L I4, manual trans 4x4 with a D25 up front, a D35 out back, weight around 2500, no frills...well...as few as possible. I guess it'd wind up like a base model YJ

I still would love to see the Huricane it doesn't need 2 engines for front and rear or 4 Wheel Steering which would be nice. but make it a True Trail Ready Jeep only available with full Armor 2 tops soft and hard. Maybe even the Grand Cherokee's Deisel engine. All the things that don't scream Mall Crawler. If they want a Mall Crawler charge extra for that instead of extra of having to pay extra to be the highly coveted JEEP we all would love to see. :P   8)
