Instead of spending ~$400 on a plastic snorkel that doesn't even really fit , how hard would it be to go about taking a snorkel from an H1 (or similar) and fabbing it up on the KJ?

that would be really really interesting if someone could rig that up. im friends with a guy who has a black H1 (most badass thing iv EVER seen) and he showed me the snorkel...

it could fit nicely in the upper left hand corner of the jeep if u could run a manifold to the airbox.

ill talk to him more and look under the hood and see what i can do.

p.s. the snorkels that the aussies have are fabbed for the liberty without the antenna in the U.S. style spot.

The problem with that is that the KJ hood opens conventionally and the HMMWV (H1)'s hood opens from back to front. If you did this on the KJ you would have to make the "saucer" and pipe holding the saucer removable form the outside so that it doesn't stop the hood from opening when needed. Or you could make a pretty big hole in your hood!

I was thinking more along the lines of putting the saucer on the hood, and on the underneith of the hood fab something up so when the hood is closed it seals tight, but it still allows you to open it like any other hood...

I'm not talking about the kinds of snorkels that have the pipe on them, but on some of the H1's I've seen, the saucer is right on the hood... Kind of like this one..

I realize it's on a part of the hood that doesn't open, but I imagine it wouldn't be too difficult to make something that seals when the hood closes...

Not saying anything bad but the first pic that H1 can go through 60" of water, the second only 30".Just a thought is all.

Make it so it twists on and off. Seals to a rubber grommet when tightened. When you need to raise the hood, twist it off. Or tight clamps that clamp it down tight onto a grommet.

Why not just block off the airbox at the current intake, and run a duct to the back of the hood? hole in hood...pipe up the A-pillar, bam, ya got it.
