Hello all. I am new here and wanted to introduce myself. :D I recently purchased a new 2005 liberty limited for my wife and I have a local shop ordering a new OME H/D lift and an ARB bumper.

My question is due to the 17" rims that are on the vehicle now. What tire size can I clear? I have searched and there seems to be very little info available.

I am looking at either 235/75/17 Firestone Destination AT's (30.9" Dia) or 245/70/17 (30.6 Dia). Does anyone have some experience with this?

I appreciate all the responses and the incredible amount of information available here!

Ethan.

either one would work well, 70 series just a bit wider, but should be no problems, you can also check out the tire section as there are quite a few posts.

Good to see that you are going with an OME lift GREAT choice and OH yes WELCOME TO LOST!!!

Tom

Keep us posted! I am in the exact same boat as you and will be headed that way some day. I would also like to stay with the factory 17's or find another wheel that will hold the TPMS valve stems.

Eathan I too have a limited (07) and the same lift you are getting with an ARB.

I also did the reasearch you have done and had no joy. I found very few options for new rubber with my stock 17's (atleast none I wanted to pay for)

I chose to go down to a set of 16 inch AEV bridger's. Great looking alloy wheel that has worked out GREAT with the oem TPMS valve stems and gave me a HUGE choice on tires.

With the 16's you will find that 245/75r16 are the biggest you will get by with without doing some surgery on the pinch welds. even then you can only get a little bigger (i think) and not have concerns for the front 30A differential.

A set of Cragar black soft 8's in 16's will run you in the neighborhood of 55.00-70.00 (i think around 58.00 with out center caps is the best price I have seen) a wheel and have a good backspacing for the wheel wells.

Good luck and show us the KJ soon. You will find that we all like to see pics and lots of them.

that's the pic I was waiting for! Looks great! Can I get an ARB in the same color as those rims?

Thanks.

the stock color for the ARB for a KJ is a medium grey. I bought it used and had it re-powdercoated black. I am going for the Johnny Cash all black thing.

The Gecko roofrack is still in the garage waiting for another pair of hands to lift that beast up and to wire the lights through the roof.

Sliders on the way from Marty (I hope) and WARN is also in the garage waiting for a few extra hours to install.

Thank you for the info.

I really don't want to get new rims, I already am spending enough with new tires, lift and ARB. Right now I am leaning towards the 235/75/17's due to the slightly narrower width to help avoid any rubbing while turning.

Any other responses with info on 17's would be nice. I will post up pics when I get this put together and provide a little more help to anyone else in the future that may be looking to run this lift/tire setup. :)

Ethan

Just been added to my short list of Jeep KJ wants! Add the grey ARB bumper and they should blend in nicely!

I think it's the yellow in the middle that makes me think of Ferrari..
