Out Helping Clear the snow

With 37 cm of snowfall on Saturday, I had to hook up the snow blower to help out friends and family...and anyone who looked in need enough...

Setup works well on the jeep, but have to remove the spare tire to allow full use of the platform and ramp.

Lots of fun!

awesome pictures!! all i had this winter was a shovel on my roof basket haha, but i saw those racks at tractor supply and thought about exactly what you did! good way to make extra cash, i should have done it

looks like you kept the little guy in the background busy too! :lol:

Thanks, it's a pretty handy platform. It was actually made by a local welder here in Southern Ontario. It will hold 300lbs max. Which is actually a lot. Not sure what the tongue weight limit of the KJ is but I haven't had any issues at all.

A lot of the prefabbed platforms i have seen are a little too small to carry the snowblower, and a lot didn't have the loading ramp which is necessary. One benefit of the smaller platforms is that they can often fold up when not in use....but that's a problem with the spare tire.

look for a hitch extension

It should push the rack out far enough to clear the tire

Looks good, what type is the snowblower?

Your jeep is the same as mine first 05 06 renny I have seen in blue other than mine, looks good.

Thats cool of you to help out the others who need it. I live in a mostly duplex area and my neighbors are an elderly couple. I usually shovel out their side of the driveway in addition to ours, or push out the young new couple with their lowered civics with giant wings on the back when they get stuck in 1.5 inches of snow. Nobody in the neighborhood ever helps each other out besides us. They all have snow blowers too. I do not expect any handouts, I just like to thank people when they go the extra mile. So thanks again.

what the heck is all that white stuff all over the ground,and is that a rototiler on the back of that jeep never seen one like that before.Stay warm love seeing PICTURES of the snow. From a fellow KJ owner in Phoenix Arizona :wink:

The snowblower is a Yardworks brand...techumseh engine I believe. Does the job. I actually usually do my driveway plus about 4 - 5 others around me plus a LOT of sidewalk. I am like a kid in a candy store when it snows...basically I get to go out and play with my toy.

The only problem with a hitch extender would be the leverage it gives the platform. The extenders usually reduce tongue weight capacity by around 50% from what I have read. Plus it would be swinging all over the place when driving over the brutally potholed roads.

Although i love the blue colour of my Renny, I need new tires for looks and better traction. Every time I go to order my wish list parts (OME + BFG or Pro Comp tires) we seem to run into other financial obligations. There is just never enough money eh!
