Picked up the rig this evening and very happy, apart from one thing. It only has one key and remote :evil:

Does anyone know if they key has an immobiliser in it or if a replacement just needs to be cut, also with regard to the remote, will I have to go to Jeep to get a replacement and what will the cost be! Will be having a 'chat' with the dealer where I got the car, he offered to replace the key but said they only ever come with one remote, however the owners manual clearly states it should come with two, shall have to 'negotiate' with him as I wasn't aware of the only one key and remote issue until I got it tonight! Are all car dealers cowboys?

now if your only key is Grey in colour its a sentry key and has a coded chip in it, You will need a genuine key otherwise you wont be able to start the KJ ( it will start but only run for a second or two)

I would be twisting the dealers arm if I were you for another key as they came with two keys and two remotes, depending on which type of key they can be very expensive to get another one.

Not that I'm defending the Dealer, but as you bought it 2nd hand often they are trade-in with only one set of keys surrendered by the previous owner. Generally the cost will be around $400 mark. I had the experience of having to have my replaced which was done by a very experienced mobile keysmith. Good luck and enjoy your new toy.

I was just a little disappointed that the dealer neglected to tell me the fact until I picked up the car and asked where the second set was!

Thankfully, they have agreed to pay for a new key but not the remote. Key is $117 and the remote $126, surprisingly I rang two different Jeep dealers and got two different prices, the other said $265 for the lot.........

Try Keyless Entry for the remote. US$24 plus postage has got to beat A$126 any day.
