From what i have searched for in here, i have never heard of anyone running a 255/75 tire, how come? a bit bigger then the 245/75 but not as big as the 265/75, it seems like a good middle ground, how come i have never heard of anyone trying that combo? Just curious

Tire track doesn't seem to have any 255/75R16 tires. It does seem like a good size to run though....

Because there isn't crap in that size. At that size, might as well step up to a 235/85, where there are TONS of good options.

75 series tires are wider than the 85. And 235/85 is a 32" and a 255/75 is a 31". Need to trim quite a bit to fit 32" on a KJ.

Although, the 265/70 is about the same size as the 255/75, but the 265/70 is a bit wider

it's the first number that dictates width, ie 235/85-16 is INDEED a narrower tire than a 255/70-16, but the 2nd number has NOTHING to do with how wide it is.

To continue with that statement..............

235/85R16 = 235mm wide(section width),85 is the percent the tires sidewall hieght is compared to the section with(85% of 235mm),"R" is radial tire, and of course the 16 is the rim diameter.

does a 235/85/16 fit better than a 265/75/16 on the KJ? im running 245/75/16s right now but have a chance to get some 235/85/16 MTRs really cheap. just wondering if they will fit better. i know there is going to be some trimming either way.

Probally,but you need a 7" rim,a 8" rim is to wide for a 235 tire.

Before buying my beast I test drove a KJ with 235/85s. I can't remember the amount of lift it had (you didn't need a ladder to get in it) and from memory it only had mild rub on the sway bar. They look a bit skinny but the extra height is great.
