thank u Rayman. Just a quick question. Are u lifted and is there any rubbing with the 245/70/16 and the cragers? oh and it looks awsome!!

NO lift

that was my old wheels, they were 15x7, with i THINK 4" or 4.25" backspacing, so they stuck out farther than the stock wheels, which made them more prone to rubbing, which was pretty close to the pinch weld and behind the foglight, but no it didnt rub. the tires were 235-75-15, which is almost EXACTLY same as the stock 235-70-16

darn it! I have the 245/70r/16 and i really want the soft 8s 16x8....so just to confirm I WOULD need a lift with this setup so theres no rubbing right?

Yes you will need a lift to run the 245/70's on 16x8 rims.I believe Jeepjeepster has a lift with MOAB's(16x8 with 5" BS) and 245/70's and he says he has some rubbing still.

no you dont need a lift. right now i have 16x7 factory aluminum wheels, with 245-70-16 tires and it doesnt rub. so if you already have the 245-70-16 tires, all you need is a 16" cragar wheel, i would recomend a 16x7 wheel with the 245 tire instead of the 16x8, it will look much better, just my opinion though

and yes, as tjkj said, the rubbing will be a matter depending what backspacing you go with on the wheel, but with a 16" factory wheel(or any aftermarket wheel with the same backspacing and offset as a factory wheel) and 245-70-16 tire you wont rub

just run a 16 X7 with the 245 70s and you will be good. Why go with 8s unless you want to lift, bigger tire etc

That's the thing,there are no aftermarket 16" rims with the same BS as the OEM rims,unless you go to a 9"+ wide rim.

ahh ok i see. thats probably why i got that backspacing on my cragers that made them stick out father than stock when i got them

You'll rub,245/70's will not rub if mounted on OEM rims which are 16x7 with 5.5" of BS,going to the same size rim with only 4" of BS will move the tire out 1 1/2" farther then the stock rim.You'd be fine with 235/70's but going to has some really nice rubbing with the 245/70's.You can trim the front to(and pound down the pinchweld)minimize the rubbing,the rear is a whole lot harder.As long as you don't flex the rear very much you'd be fine.Just how much are you willing to cut to make them fit is the ? you need to ask yourself.

yep on a pre-lowered Kj you'd have no problems but a '04 Kj is a lowered kj(lowered 3/4").I ran 245/75 MT/R's(on the OEM rims) on my non-lifted KJ for 6 months with no rub when I first bought it,that 3/4" more hieght was real handy.

i'm still on 225-70-r16s, so if i wanted to do this i shouldn't have any problems? I'm thinking of getting these rims.

i just recently installed some unique 297's on mine which are exactly the same as soft 8's...

mine are 16x7 with the standard bs which i think is 4.5?

anyways im running some 235/70's on it and as far and have had no problems with the set up at all. highly suggest getting some for yourself totally changes the look of the jeep
