9 louver ones are going to be way long I think, I used the 5 hole ones and looks good. When I measured mine with bracing etc thats when I went with the 5. But just lay them where you want and drill holes in the corners and cut away  I double taped the whole hood off as well no no scratches from the saw/ drilling etc. marked out the area with a marker, how are you fastening them on? If by the original screws have to allow for that, or glue them on, I did both.

My buddy did this to his Cherokee and he cut them with a cutting blade on his grinder. He then used bondo to keep them in place and then he painted the whole thing himself. He did a pretty good job, except with bondo, if you don't get it mixed thoroughly or sand it perfectly flat, you can see that the bondo is somewhat porous and he didn't put a clearcoat on after either. So if the sun hits his hood in a certain way you can see flat spots with some bondo marks. But both of those things are really minimal and most everyone doesn't notice unless they look hard enough. He says that they have really helped. He used to live in Vegas and his Cherokee almost overheated quite often I guess but after he installed the louvers it was fine. Good luck and post some pics of the process and final product. :)

used bondo ? dont know why you would use bondo since the Pontiac louvers are like a heavy rubber type material , bondo would not stick at all to it very well. Paint the louvers first, and then fasten them down, I used the original mounting points plus black roof cement, will never come off again. You can fell heat coming out of them when yo stop some where plus they get lots of looks for sure

OK maybe he sanded them, but the louvers are like a rubber bumper and bondo doesn't stick well at all, glad it worked for him though, but I sanded / painted/ cleared mine and they look factory installed, just don't want others trying it unless they know what they are getting into.

My friend's cherokee would look factory installed if he had taken a few more minutes to sand the bondo even, and put on some clear, but the bondo worked great for him and he hasn't had a single issue with the two not "sticking" together. His louvers are definitely not going anywhere and unless you really stare at them , you can't notice anything in the first place. His worked great so I don't know why it wouldn't for someone else.
