Bump stop?

does anyone know what size bolt to use for fabing the rear bump stops out of a rubber mallet? ive seen this on here before not to long ago but i cant find it anywhere :cry:

i think it was like 13mm or 3/8" or something like that but i dont remember how long it was. does anyone know off hand or someone that has done this what did you use? a link to the info would work just fine. im sorry if this has been posted a milion and a half times i just cant find it and its driving me crazy. i just want to know what to buy so i dont make a bunch of trips to get the right bolt. thank you.

For cheap rear bump stops, you could try using the heads off of a couple cheap rubber mallets, (like $1.99 ea. at thrift store) cut them down to 2 1/2" and drill a 3/8'' hole though the middle and attach though a 3/8" drilled hole in the spring perch at the center of the spring with a 3/8" X 2 3/4" bolt & nut.

Just use a bolt lenght to accomodate the lenght of bump stop you want to use. I cut my mallet heads to 2 3/4" because of my 32" tires and lift height and used a 3" bolt.
One mallet head is 4" which will make two 2" bump stops, if you need them longer you'll need 2 mallet heads.

I've been thinking Allen bolts....so the head of the bolt fits snugly inside the mallet....

I just added another piece to my rear bump stops, they are made from some sort of polly crap. I got them from a plastics joint near where I work, there is no give in them and they are rock solid. I got black 1st as that's what they had but I kind of thought it wasn't thick enough (19mm) + I was still getting rubbing on the fender flare. So i got another one yesterday (yellow 19mm thick), drilled it out of the block and put it in. The 1st one is held in with liquid nails, the 2nd (on top) is attached with heavy duty 2/S tape.

This is taken on my moblie so that can explain the quality.

Full stuff in the rear.

This is showing (if you can tell) that the tyre is about 2mm off the fender flare at full stuff. The tyre on the other side is off the ground.
