Awhile ago, I had some wicked problems with my Jeep Liberty and ended up selling it. As punishment, I've always had a thing for land rovers, and consiquently, bought myself a 2002 Land Rover Discovery Series 2 to give a go. What drew me back to the KJ, was the total package. I found that it was a great city SUV for manouvrability. It gets a million miles a tank and has a thousand million horsepower. Drive a Discovery and you'll know what I mean.

Plan is simple:

Buy a Diesel Liberty from anywhere

Buy it for less than the going canadian rate of $25,000

Make wife very happy so she can stop bitching about how much she hates my "Stupid Land Rover".

Cheers!

when my wife finally decided she needed a "new" car she wanted something 4 wheel drive as she works at a hospital and always needs to be there. She had a friend with a relative at a dealership who had a used 2002 pre lowered. When we first looked at it she was hesitant because she had always drove compact cars and thought it was too big  Well now after driving it for a few years it's the only car she likes now. To the point that she talked our daughter into buying an 03 and when I finally got around to buying she fell in love with my 05 Limited and insisited I "buy that one". When she gets around to buying again she is already eyeing th KK's. I think she is hooked.... "It's a Jeep Thing and I don't understand" 8)

Pre Lowered.. Throwback from the old days. early 2002's were 3/4 inch higher but got lowered probably from some bogus safety thing. somebody probably rolled 1 and created a panic at NTSA

its going to be hard to find a diesel for less then 25k in your area or mine. Especially with gas prices down here going up again, diesel be that much more popular.

Thing is my wife loves the KJ, alot. I wanted to get a TJ, but two reasons stopped me.

Wife is too short to drive them. However, the new ones have a lift on the seat.

Its not diesel.

I've had some good times in the KJ. But Im keeping my LR for off-road.

For my wants and needs the 4 door Wrangler don't cut it. I'll stick to the Liberty until it just can't be driven any longer. Then I'll cry a lot!

Yup....the KJ is a keeper for me too. If/when I get another vehicle, the KJ stays.

Its like spending a night with a wild redhead. Months later the only thing thats still on your mind is when you get to spend another with her again.
