Where did you find 4.56 gears for the kj????? I've been looking for them for a while now! Who makes them??
Thanks
Josh

I don't think anyone makes 4.56 gears for the KJ. That would be cool if they did! 8)

RRO says that their supplier US GEAR has 4.56's for front and rear. I ordered a set and they sent me a set up for a Zuki and I am currently awaiting re-ship for the libby gears. I will let you know IF they ever show up considering I have had nothing but trouble getting anything right from those guys. :x

Wow, that would be a major break through! Keep us posted! :D

RRO has known for years that they do not have gears for the front of a KJ. They sent half a dozen sets of gears to me before they finally admitted they had never sold the front gears to anyone else. That was after they had claimed to have a KJ in their parking lot with them in it. Don't waste your time with them. The US gears do not fit. My Jeep was taken apart for 3 weeks because of them. I was the first person to regear to the 4.10's. We had to get the front diff from a 4 cylinder to get them in the front. That was actually cheaper than getting the gears from a dealership at the time.

Thats a bummer! I have emailed the owner to ask if it will actually fit and work with my ARB's, and if they wont and he sends them anyways, will he pay for the r&r @ $85 p/h labor. Lets see what he says and I will update. :?

The US Gears should work in the rear. I have the Yukons, which are the higher end gears from the same manufacturer. Make sure you get the rebuild kit with them. Considering the 4.10 gears from them don't fit the front, I really doubt the 4.56's will. Plus, Randy's Ring & Pinion makes US Gear and Yukon, but doesn't list 4.10 or 4.56 gears for the front of the Liberty. They do have a set of 3.73's listed, but it also says it fits the Dana D30 HD and the Dana D30 standard rotation front. Both of these take different ring and pinion gears than the Liberty's D30A.

I have Precision Gears in the 8.25, and the Dana/Spicer gears up front. Haven't heard of anyone making any other gears for the D30a

3.55 - Manual gassers
3.73 - Automatic gassers and CRD's
4.10 - 4 banger

All of these are only made for the D30a by Dana/Spicer. I'd love to hear of someone else who makes them.

RRO and 4.56 gears! I bet they also say alot of other thing that arent exactly true. Like they state on their website that their OTT lift doesnt cause premature ball joint failure  ....Tommudd i think i need to borrow those logger boots, or get some hip-waders, The ____ is pretty deep from RRO. IMO Ive been burnt by them once and never again! just a heads up! Not trying to burn them just help the next guy out!

my wife bought a 2wd so when I put 265/75/s on it and it lost all its balls, i installed 4.56's knowing full well that if I decided to install all the other 4wd parts to make it a 4wd down the road, that I would have to regear the rear end again to 4.10 b/c there is not anything avail for the front....kinda sucks, but it is what it is!!! I must say, with 32 and 4.56's I will never go to a numerically lower ratio and loose power. its fun to drive now and I rather stay 2wd or go with a SFA than loose any power.

Yeah, 4.56's would be about perfect with the 32's. 4.10's are a really good match for 31's. I didn't like the drop in performance going from the 245/65R17's with 4.10 gears, but my setup really was kind of ridiculous. Once I get the headers and 206 cams in it I'll be right back up there though. It's still got a lot more get up and go than it did stock, even with the lift and tires. People I know with stock KJ's that ride in it are really surprised. Of course, I've spent a ton of money on performance.

What are the chances of requesting and getting a response from somebody who can manufacture 4.56's for our KJ's? Probably a stupid question, but you'd think the demand would meet the supply and be profitable for somebody out there who can make the parts? Or am I dreaming?

Is the D30R (reverse rotation) the diff that we have in front? I thought the Liberty has the D30A? Gus @ RRO says he can get 4.56 Yukon gears and I looked on the website www.ringandpinion.com and they do not list a D30A, only D30, D30HD, D30R, D30S, D30SR. Will any of these work?

I spent 3 weeks and about 20 hours on the phone with RRO about this years ago. My mechanic was extremely dissapointed with them. They do not have gears for the front of a KJ. They do not know what they are talking about.

You are not going to get 4:56 gears for the D-30A from anywhere period, no one makes them.
The rear 8:25, yes.

Look here for the front 4:10's http://www.trailquest.com/axles/KJ_Model30.shtml
#5066085AA $216.95 for front 4:10's, Rears are listed N/A.

Well RRO said they have or can get 4.56's but he thinks the front diff is a Dana Super 30. Randy's ring and pinion say that they have 4.56's for the front but they don't list them yet. I'm gonna call them again on monday to talk with the boss and find out for sure. Will post if it is infact true

Ask them if they carry the gears for the 186FIA(model 30) front diff, that is the correct term for the D30A that is in the KJ.
