For the CB antenna a medium spring is needed due to limited strength where I mounted it. I was going to have the local metal fab shop modify my mount so I could move it up higher; however, they lost their roof in our wicked December storm and won't open back up for another month or so. Oh and those inserts can be made from gutter guards available at Home Depot, if you have the patience for it.

Thanks for the closeups Drybones, now I can see how I will situate my inserts to the fins once my shipment comes in. I ended up going with these in black. Quality probably isn't as good as yours, but I figured I'd give it a whirl.

I like the particular diamond style/size, thickness and inward curved edges on your inserts. Nice choice.

I bought some gutter leaf guards from Lowes and cut them down to 3 1/2" X 9 3/4" strips, sanded and primered, then painted them black. After they dried I installed them behond the black trim today using black zip ties. Here's what they look like:

Thanks for the comments, this so far, was the cheapest and easiest mod I've done ($7.00±). Hope to find a few more cheap & easy ones to do!

Howdy all,

Received my black mesh grille inserts in the mail today. Was in the process of taking pictures of the installation process w/a buddy's camera (did not have my own camera with me), and in the midst of preparing to install the inserts, the camera fell off my hood onto concrete...now I have to go out and drop $200 to replace his camera.

Regardless, I continued with the installation. Removing the grille was pretty simple, just 4 screws. Then I zip-tied all 7 mesh inserts to the black fins. Simple as that. I'll get pictures up soon.
