Quick fist clamps or grips are great. I found these things, believe it or not on a Toyota forum, and the dude there was using them for various stuff on his FJ. They looked cool so I bought a few of them for my new custom roof rack and they are sweet. They are cheap, work great and are really easy to use. They held on tight to my axe, shovel and even my hi lift jack going 55 on washboard dirt roads while on my turkey hunt this past week. Not once did they loosen slip or fail at all. I did ad two zip ties for extra security for the jack mounts but they turned out to be unnecessary. They are perfect.

I also have one on the inside of my KJ holding my maglite.

Yes!! They're awesome! I just recently installed two 2-inchers to hold my Maglite on the side of my drivers seat..No rattling and completely solid hold..I love 'em! I plan on purchasing the largest size next..to mount my fire extinguisher inside the rear window, can't wait! great heads-up, ingenious product!

I also bought the largest one for my on board Co2... which will be coming soon. I am mounting it in the rear of my KJ below my fire extinguisher.

It is tightened as tight as it will get right now while it is waiting for the Co2 tank. It gets like three times bigger than it is in the picture.
