I know this is an old post, but I wanted to add some info. I put a $70 cv axle in mine in a pinch. I had a wheeling trip and the week before I cut a boot. Didn't have time, or even know where to get a boot so I bought a new $70 CV. Yes, they were new, the computer showed Reman'd and New. The Reman'd were discontinued. I asked about them cuz I wanted the oem shafts (for strength). The parts person said that they stopped selling the reman'd ones due to recalls and only sold new ones now. It looked like (in the computer) that there used to be a core charge but they had it turned off or something. They didn't want the core (due to the reman issues mentioned above).
So I put the axle in and decided to rebuild the factory one later. Went wheeling. Did some moderate to heavy rock crawling and on one particularly tough obstacle I snapped that new (less than a week old) shaft in two right past the output splines. The ONLY good things I can say about them is they are cheap and work if you aren't offroading and they might keep you from busting your front diff cuz they are weaker than the aluminum housing (as proven above, LOL).
Buyer Beware....
