Just installed my Winch this weekend and was kind of shopping around for a yellow top cuz i am gonna need one sometime soon, as the oem battery will crap out soon anyway.

So I am calling around locally (Louisville, KY) and call an O'Riey's auto parts and ask if they have optima's and a yellow top 34/78 and the chic says YUP we have optima's and yellow tops, hold on let me check the model number. Comes back on the phone and says got one, and it is 139.00, I ask COME AGAIN?!?!?! she says 139.00

So I jump in the ol' KJ and fire on over and grab it and she says you the one who called? I said yup, this is the only one in town, it did seam like that nobody even had a 34/78 in stock. So she scans it and it comes up 189.00 plus a core charge (10.00) and tax and she says 209.00 and I ask what about the 139.00?

She says I remeber and looks and sees that the price had been removed so she used the price of the O'Riely's crappy brand yellow top just above it on the rack, 139.00.

She looks at me and says, mmmmmmm lets see what we can do about the price. How about I split the difference with ya, I said 155.00 and she said 10 buck core, and tax, sure that alright with you, I said "Hell Yes!!!!"

So I just jumped into a rose bush and came out smelling like roses, for once.

Sounds like you got a good deal! We paid $150 for the red top.


Amazing how much those have went up. Three years ago this October I bought my red-top for $100.

so how did it fit? any trimming?

If i remember from Troy, only 02-04 trays need trimming.

Only the 02s need trimming.

Unless the yellow top is different than the red, mine dropped right in.
