I guess we COULD just downgrade to a simpler stock radio that will allow the adapter to work. we could........ :?

is your sat radio built in, or is it an add-on of some sort? only reason i ask is cause the downgrade would loose your built in sat radio if it is built in...

does anyone know if the usaspec adapters work with the RB1 or RB4 nav radio? they have sat radio ability, no in dash changer, and navigation.

there was one on ebay, used, a couple weeks ago that was going for $400. not too bad for what it is, but yeah, i know, its expensive. just putting options out there.

what year is your jeep, and exactly which radio do you have?

i guess if i were in your shoes, i would go with this fm modulated adapter from mopar. its wired, not wireless, so the sound will be pretty decent, and being from mopar, its not going to be cheap POS like the one i bought for my escort. you wont have any worries about this screwing up your sirrius or changer or u-connect, and you wont have to get a new stereo. seems like a good idea.

i know on that page it says its for 2006, but i couldnt find it for 05. dont think it will make any difference though.

I don't see the point in having a disk changer when you have iPod capabilities either. Kind of like keeping a cassette deck when far superior mediums are out there  New decks with iPod capabilities are cheaper than going through the iPod controller route and are far better than the FM transmitters. Come to think of it, most of the upper end transmitters are close to the same price as deck with iPod capabilities such as Aux. in.

When I changed out my stock deck, I just put it aside and am keeping it just in case I ever want to sell the libby down the road. Really only a 45 minute install.

But if he changed out the stock deck then he would probably loose his stock sat radio.

Plus there are some of us that hate aftermarket decks, they never look quite right, they are not as easy to control as the stock deck, and usually have wierd colors and lights that make me feel like I am back in highschool in a dark room with people doing X all around me.

Point being, he can ditch the stock changer, and get his ipod to work nicely with the stock deck, I would prefer that solution personally.

I didn't realize that he had Sat radio built into the deck. I was under the assumption that it was one of the aftermarket jobbies. If that is the case, and not just the stock junk, then yes, that presents a problem.

As for looks, I'm not concerned about the lights. I'm only concerned about sound.

I'm more concerned about safety, when I need the stereo off I need it off NOW. Not 4 secs later after holding down a power button. The past 2 aftermarket HUs I have had you had to hold down the power button to turn it off, on one if you didn't hold it long enough it ejected the CD, on the other it simply half muted the volumn.

I want something that is easy to use with large clear buttons that have a good tactile response, I have yet to find an aftermarket HU that does that well.

But I digress.

Ive got a alpine head unit that ipod ready and it wins hands down, never need to touch the ipod and never need the cds again. The unit has full speed conection to the ipod. Its not much more than buying a nice ipod integration kit.

For mine, that's as easy as pulling the Aux line out of the front of the deck. The other option is to pop the face plate or just hit the power button on the deck.

I got my adapter from www.MP3yourcar.com
It's wired in, sounds great.
I have a 05 CRD limited and would do it again in a second. Very easy to install, and just over 100 bucks.
