Note that for aftermarket steel wheels the training magnet cannot be used and that a 125kHz transponder is necessary to retrain the EVIC to the sensors. This process can be done by the dealer with a DRB-III tool. The ID's of each sensor must be written down and assigned a location (LF, RF, RR, LR, SP). They are then rewritten to tell the EVIC which position each sensor is in.

Why can't you use the DIY training magnet with aftermarket steel wheels if you can use them with OEM steel wheels?

more to the point, 05-7s are self-learning, so why do you need to retrain them? I know a NEW sensor needs to be "woken up", but why can't that be done with the training magnet as well?

Good question, I really do not know, I got the information from a Jeep website a while back and copied the information because i was looking at swapping wheels and wanted to know how everything worked.

05-07 TPMS don't need to be retrained but that still doesn't make them fit in a Crager Soft 8 which I belive was what the OP was asking.

Actually the original question was how do i get the low or high pressure tire warnings to stop forever, and can I remove the sensors and have the computer no longer recognize them so I don't get a beep and a yellow exclamation point in my face from the dash. But like all topics do, this one has evolved into a great discussion on TPMS in general and now I know much more about the little pieces of poo that I so badly want to get rid of.

According to a guy on Jeepkj the 05+ sensors work just fine with the cragars. They have no reason not to work with them.

Only thing I know to do is get a piece of pipe and put the sensors inside of it. Put a schrader valve in the cap of the pipe and pump it up to 35psi. Throw it in the trunk and call it a day. 8)

Edit: And yes, its not a good idea to use crappy caps with TPMS. For one thing the stems are aluminum so steel caps would be hard to get off if left on for along time. The stock caps also have a seal in them to keep LPP's out.

the TPMS sensors will WORK, but the angle of the wheel@the valve stem makes them more damage-prone when you DO get a flat tire, off road or not. That is the problem that I'd try to avoid...

Don't air down gratuitously off road, and don't drive on a flat tire, and you *shouldn't* have any issues.

Have you gone through your owner's manual, or googled TPMS deactivation?

I haven't, sorry to say, but I will do that today. :)

I jacked up my kj last night and rotated all the tires to see if maybe that will work, my wife is borrowing it today so I haven't had a chance to look in my manual about it yet and I am googleing it right now. I will let you guys know what I discover.
