I have a set of Moab rims off a 2004 TJ 16x8" going on to my 03 KJ lifted

You guys who have these Moabs on you KJ's running 245/75/16
What is the width min tire than will go on to the 16x8?

Been looking for tires for a few weeks now and I noticed on tire rack site it has wheel width range from 6" to 7.5 and up to 8"

What tires are you guys using? I do not want to go with any MTR. I drive too much on highway for thoes.
Can I use a7.5 tire on a 16x8? I am thinking no. but I do not know too much about tire stuff.

The min width for 16x8 rims is 245's,anything thinner(235's and 225's) will be to narrow, almost impossible to mount and you will ruin the tires(break the tread plies and belts).Stick with at least 245/70's or get 16x7 rims to run 225's or 235's.

What Troy said Xs 2 . I went with 255-70s on my Moabs due to wanting a tire for more on road than off. With the wife teaching 240 miles away and knowing how much I would be going to see her, I wanted a lighter tire than say a 245-75 Goodyear MTR would be or most 6/8 ply mud type. Look at the ones I have wearing good, sort of open tread so still will sling "some" mud and ride is good.

Tom,

With your tires MOABS w/255-70X16 Kumho KL78s Did you or do you have any problems with them? Did you have to do any thing else except the pinch weld?

Can I see a picture kinda close up

Nothing else at all, of course I have the ARB so that takes care of the front, I actually had the 245-75 MTRs on the MOabs first and they didnt touch the pinch weld but I knocked it down just in case
In the rear if I really stuff good it will rub on the outside just enough to scrape the dirt off the sidewall, of course depends on what tire you get some are a little wider etc.
