That's Louisiana by the way! We recently made a trip to the in-laws place in central LA. I always look forward to going 'cause its about the only time I get to really take the Liberty off-roading. It always seems to amaze folks (and me) at just how good it does, both in crawling, mudding and fording situations. Most people just don't realize how capable the Libertys are. Never got stuck once, but did make an extraction! So I was 1-0 for this trip! Oh, and it was 1900 miles round trip too. Never missed a beat, even after all the abuse I put her through while we were there. Here are some pics...

Thanks! That pic of it in the deep water was with my wife driving! I was worried there for a few seconds, but she powered through it. So glad she didn't stop! Not the first time it has been in a tense situation like that, but it has always come through unhurt. Perhaps I've been lucky so far, but times like that does increase my confidence about its capabilities.

Yeah, she's pretty cool, in fact its actually her KJ. She lets me modify it and have fun with it when the opportunities arise. Not that I get a chance to very often, but if nothing else the mods make it look more like a Jeep should. She gets comments from guys all the time on how it looks. It'll start to be my daily driver later this year. It'll get lockers and some other goodies after that point and I'll get more fearless with its off-road escapades. As far as the deep water, I wouldn't recommend fording this much depth for more than a few seconds and even then you have to keep some speed up to prevent the water level from coming up in the engine compartment. I've modified the stock air box to better evacuate water and draw in air from higher in the engine compartment only (removed the portion of the air box inlet which pulled air from the gap under the hood). Seems to work okay...so far anyway.
