Just looking for some feed back out there as to why Jeep does not make the Liberty with Anti-Lock brakes standard. When I bought my 05' 4x4 I never even thought to ask if it did, or didn't have Anit-locks, I just assumed that they were. Just seems odd that with all of the added safety features that come standard in todays vehicles Jeep pulls this.

Pretty sure they are standard on the 06, now, if that's any consolation.

Off-roading purists are not big fans of ABS. Off road you'd rather have standard braking in most situations.

That said, I believe Jeep engineered the Liberty's ABS to turn off while in 4-low. So it shouldn't make any difference in this case.

the 2006 libertys have traction control, abs, anti roll mitigation, and esp all standard. But now you cannot get rear limited slip, which i really need to get for my libby. I think the 06 libertys would make a perfect jeep for woman. :?

But i must say, theres nothing like abs when you dont know how to drive. Even the more experienced drivers can be caught off guard. Ive done it many times when animals run out in front of me. not saying im an experienced driver, i just get caught off guard. 8)

And all jeeps reprogram abs when in 4low, i do not believe it cuts it out totally, just reprograms it.

lol, i had to say it. I do believe thats why jeep has been holding out on putting on that standard on the Jeeps. I would like to have some of that stuff some times, but when i cover it in mud, i know some of those sensors are going to get broke/ not work right. I always hear of people saying their abs light comes on when going 4wheeling. Stuff is great for the road, but nothing beats a good old locker.

Personaly i do not have ABS. IMO the libertys brakes are great! I have never had a problem here in florida even with the wet roads. Of coarse i am not an aggressive driver and i keep my distance. The only time i had a lock up was the right rear tire in the rain and i did it purposely to see how easy it was. That was with the crapo stock tires on it. MY new coopers are 10 times better.

My '03 has ABS and I'm glad it does. No matter how fast you are you can't possibly react as fast as the ABS computer does to wheel slip. My ABS saved my wife and I from going off the edge of a 60ft high overpass (I95-I295 merge in Delaware) when a charter buss ran me off the road in the pouring rain.

As for offroading, I've had my KJ in lots of deep, nasty mud and water over the headlights many times and my ABS still works fine 2 1/2 years later.

Oh yeah, in addition to ABS the '06 KJ has bigger rotors front and rear. I guess no one will be putting 15" wheels on an '06.
