Head Unit has a mind of its own / Amp Help

Ok well.......... I get into my Jeep and the headunit has set itself to different sound settings. It has the EQ level up at +4, and the sound setting is to custom. Everytime I get in I have to lower the EQ setting, and set the sound setting to POWERFUL. Shouldn't it just stay set to whatever I set it at, no matter whether it is turned of or not? I have the Pioneer DEH-3900MP.

2nd Question:
My sub has a 30hz-160hz reponse, does this mean that I set my amp to 30hz, and it picks up everything above 30? I dont know much about amps, but this is my sub. (the 12")

maybe something bad in the head unit itself keeping it from memorizing you settings. maybe power wire is getting interupted? for the sub question it's best to tune it for less distortion as the frequency responce will differ depending on the box design. if the sub moves but produces little or no sound you are low in the bandwith and will destroy your sub. hope this helps.

HOLY CRAP! Will all those subs back there I'm sure you know what your talking about ahhaha.

I just looked at my amp, it is a LPF (low pass filter), if thats the case shouldn't I set it at 160 since the sub is rated to play between 30-160hz? That way it will play 160z and lower?....... I'm so confused

Also......if I wanted to change my Quantum Audio sub out and replace it with a JL Audio 12W3 (2 ohm) would I have to replace the amp? Or will it deffinatly sound better and hit harder simply bc the JL Audio is a better speaker?

no offense to anybody JL subs are nice and they are pretty darn clean but they are over rated and better subs could be bought at the same price range.
for the amp freq question it's really more trial and error. turn the knob to the lowest setting then work your way up. remember the gain knob is not a
volume knob. if you do go with the 12w3 then get a custom box made or buy a box designed around that woofer otherwise bad things will occur. it might
be cheaper to just stick you new sub in your old box but blowing a sub is inevitable. if the coils on sub is dual 2 ohm then 2 subs wired in parallel would be
.5 ohms on the amp but 2 ohms in series. if the coils are single 2 ohm then in parallel they would be 1 ohms and in series would be 4 ohms. don't quote me
on these but im pretty sure i'm right. also i believe the rms on the subs are 300 so you'll should get an amp that's able to do 600 rms not max watts for the 2 subs.
depending on the type of enclosure (sealed for sound quality and ported for boom but less sound quality) sealed does pretty good in the rms range but ported boxes
will be less power efficient so even though you're putting 300 watts to the sub you might overpower the sub. hope this helps

I believe you set the hz for the sub and it cannot go below that. So if you set it to 30hz then you will not get anything below 30... Thats how I always thought mine was doing it.
