If you are talking about "Lincoln Locking" (welding up the spider gears) it, I can't imagine anyone has since they are all street driven. I couldn't live w/ the Powertrax, I can't imagine how bad a Lincoln locker would be.

Not a wise choice if you plan on driving it on hard surfaces or slippery hard surfaces(ice, snow, rain).

Oh and plan on buying plenty of rear tires and have some spare 8.25 29-spline axles real handy if driving as a DD.

Off road and out in fields it will work but on hard surfaces dont even try it like tjkj said if you do have a lot of extra parts, locked like that both tires are driven the same so turns on hard pavement ....well lets just say you will leave your mark  Been there and saw a buddy try to prove me wrong about running his on the road, trouble was I had to repair what he broke

Oh and one more thing about lincoln lockers...................

Never do a front diff unless you have manual lock out hubs, and never do it on a D30A.

Okay one more thing,if you want to really do it swap in a better axle such as a D60 axle, they will hold up better,or any axle that you can get 35-spline+ axles for.But for that much money might as well just pony up for that ARB.

A Detroit & a spool are very different animals. A Detroit unlocks for turns, spools/welded diffs do not.

I have driven a spooled Super Bee for a winter, and it kinda sucked. Spools will break a tire loose due to binding on turns, especially at low speed. They do seem to cause wear issues. They can snap stock/weak axles in high-traction situations, like trying to turn 90 deg. from a stop on concrete.

I don't think I would weld a DD, but I would have no problem doing it to something I just drove to the trail, played, and then drove home.
