I am putting a 2004 EVIC in my 2005 CRD sport and cannot find the details on re-connecting the overhead lights or the details for the sunroof(the plug does not fit in the EVIC sunroof switch socket). I have spent quite a bit of time searching for a post I saw about 8-12 months ago. Help

gmctd,
Thanks, but I have done a pretty good search and the crd tech thread you pointed to does not address my problem. The problem is that the map light wiring needs to be reconfigured, mine works basically opposite now. The sunroof switch connector for the 04 evic does not match the 05 plug in my CRD, need wiring information.

I know I got a summary dismissal from gmctd, but I have searched and still need help. I know I have seen a thread that mentioned the map light wiring having to be redone. Still have not found a reference for the sunroof connections. Help would be appriciated.

Look in the FSM and compare the pinout for the sunroof switch for the 04 and 05 FSMs.

Sir Sam,
I do not have an 04 FSM. If you do I would like to see the page on the sunroof and the map lights.

Sir Sam,
Thanks for the help. I got a chance to get back to the EVIC. I found the sunroof switch had problems, cleaned the contacts and it was easy to diagnose. Everything looks good except the distance to empty shows 40 miles, I have 16 gals of fuel. I figure a fill up or disconnecting the battery will solve the problem.

If the dome lights work opposite of what you expect, you've turned the plug around :)

My EVIC worked fine even though the plugs didn't match exactly. Had the same problem as you, flipped the plug connection and voila problem gone.

Uffe,
Actually mine required a switch of the 12V feed from center to the right edge. Kind of like reversing rotation on a 3-phase circuit.

Its a good day today because it is in and working. I assume that disconnecting the battery would reset the computer and force the trip computer to recalculate miles to empty. When I first connected the EVIC the rear speed sensor was acting up and the odometer was not operating. I filled up this afternoon and the miles to empty went to 56 miles. After driving about 6 miles it went to 60.

I think my miles to empty reading is inaccurate. The mileage is pretty close, which is weird, but miles to empty is often off by more than 100 miles. Really I just like the compass and temp.

There's about 10 liters in the "reserve" tank (yellow light comes on) but the fuel gauge goes to zero even when there's 5 liters left. EVIC is the same story, it is to make you not run out of fuel in the middle of nowhere.
