Why is it costing you. Aren't you still under warranty?

$500 for a fuel sensor? Are they replacing the entire fuel pump or what?

Where did you take it?

Something is not right...We (CRDs) replace the whole assembly for much less...check out the CRD TEch Section for instructions...I think they are in there.

But you don't have a fuel pump attached to yours, and then he has to add more labor to remove the gas tank skid and RL rear bumber(there not pulling then for free, and need to come off to lower the gas tank). It's almost all labor.

I thought there was an access hole in the cargo hold?

$500 sounds reasonable...I wouldn't R&R an RL rear bumper for free

since there are no sensors going off now... and no lights or anything, what if i let it go until it doesn't work anymore? i really don't want them to take it all off and mess up everything!

I'd remove all the stuff you can yourself to make the labor easier for the guys at the shop. That way they don't spend a few extra hours or so replacing the stuff, thus saving you $70-$80 in labor an hour. Find out all the stuff they would need off, like the rear bumper, gas skid etc., and do it. It is a lot of work for you, but if you have the time and are able, it might be worth it to save the $$$ and spend it where you really want.

Why not just do the job your self and save the labor $$$?
I can not see it being that hard
hoses ,wires, and such ,heck most all of that stuff is "plug and pray"
put the new one on like the old one was and it should work

oh yeah I would get a 2 gallon gas can and keep it with me ,full if you have a roof basket
run it until it dies then put in the 2 gallons ,go home and fix it
if you need to go further then only put in as much as you need
less gas in tank makes the plastic tank very easy to handle

FYI - a number of the CRD folks have done this - not hard - about 3-4 hours including running some extra wires the gassers don't need.
oh yeah and the Rock Lizard bumper weights 110 lbs -you will remember that.

So get a buddy and do it all. :D A few beers is a lot cheaper than $500. I am sure someone on here can run you through it and lend some brain power.

I live up here in Stillwater, some weekend we could tackle it. Course my shop is my driveway, so the weather comes into play. All it would cost you is the price of parts and a few beers when it is done. I haven't tackled one in the liberty yet, but I would think we could knock it out in a few, even with unforeseen problems. We just need to make sure we have all the necessary parts to start with. PM me if you want to give it a shot in the next couple months.

If the only symptom you have is a lack of accurate fuel measurement, then you're probably fine, just make sure you don't run out of gas

So you can still get your lift and they will take care of the broken stuff?

well it turns out i have the MAPS WARRANTY that my mom forgot to tell me i had. just for future reference... you have to tell them that you have MAPS (motorist asstitant plan) b/c they will not look for you. i only paid my $100 deductible and was on my way, so now i only have 550 saved for the lift. ohwell!
