I came across an H3 today at the store and just had to take a few pics of it next to my KJ.

It's about the same size and height as my lifted Liberty, ground clearance is about the same, my front end is a smidge higher. Looks like a pretty cool rig, but the stock rubber sucks and check out the rear lower shock mounts...wow, one good shot by a rock and that would probably be history.

nice looking kj! i think that new h3 does not have the offroad package as it comes with bfg 33's a/t kos. Yeah, leaf springs with shock mounts exposed, probably not nearly as much flex potential.... but stock 33's.. hmm 8)

I don't think there is anything wrong with the Hummer if I could afford it I would have one. BTW Awesome KJ!

The H3 has a great front bumper. By the way, check out the comparison test done between the two vehicles: http://www.jeepprojects.com/news.php Nice looking KJ. 8)

There are two things that Jeep could copy from the H3 :

The approch angle at the front tire is not nearly as obstructed by the bumper

They offer an E Locker (electric locker)

Both rigs are nice and both have their drawbacks....but you have to admit an E locker would be a welcome option.

And some things the H3 engineers could learn from the KJ:

Don't use a "spring under axle" suspension setup in the rear end. Just look at that thing. It would get hung up all the time on the shock mounts here where I go 'wheelin'.

Torsion bars suck.

Narrower width is more suitable for trails.

I could go on and on... point is the H3 is not superior because except for the body it's basically a Chevy Colorado pickup truck, and we all know what kind of reviews those things got when they came out.

Every vehicle has it's advantages and disadvantages. But I still like my KJ better overall.

The H3's are nice trucks. Didn't car for the H2s, but the H3 seems to be just the right size. Plus can't beat 33s, 4:56 gears, 4:1 Low, rear diff locker, and real tires standard from the factory. People say it based off the colorado platform, but heck a rubicon with 35s is based off the same chassis as the low-end wrangler with 28" donuts.

Still love my KJ and they are alot cheaper than H3s, but if one showed up in my driveway one morning you wouldn't see me complaining.

So in that first pic, the "ONLY" is from "COMPACT CARS ONLY", right?

I sat in a H3 this last weekend at the Las Vegas auto show. I was not really in pressed at it could not say I hate it but would deff. chose my 2wd renne again over it. Like others say both have + and - but i like the liberty's +'s over all.

I'm amazed at how many "offroad" trucks I see with rear shock mounts sticking WAY down from the axle!! Scary.... Aside from possibly getting broken, you could get downright stuck or tangled on something.

You all say the hummer is great with all the crap it comes with but you could get all that + more for the price of the hummer. They are great i think, but would suck offroad. Put leafs and torsion bars on a libby and you could fit 33's b/c there is no flex what so ever. whats so great about 33's if you cant use them? 31's on a libby with a lift and a locker would out wheel a hummer. But all in all i like them, but everyone that buys them doesnt use them, so whats the point?

And eddo, the rubicon doesnt have 35's. 31's i believe.

I really like how Jeepin Al has relocated his shocks to the top of the KJ axle.

Hate to say it, especially since I despise H2s, but the H3 is pretty sharp. It is pretty much like a KJ in many respects, minus the rear shocks that will totally be trashed and thrashed on a rocky trail and the leaf springs. I thought the leafers were somewhat being phased out but I have noticed many newer trucks still use em. The Chevy Colorado, hard to consider it a real truck, has leafers. The H3 looks sleek and less bulky, obviously, good for trail rides.

Have to agree, I'm no fan of the H2. Too big, too heavy, too thirsty. One parked next to me about a week ago and comparing the two side-by-side the Hummer seemed almost 2 feet wider

I love my KJ but if I were looking around, the H3 seems worth a serious look. I was surprised how close in size the H3 was to my KJ. The rear suspension is a problem, but you could probably fab new lower shock mounts easily enough. In the appearence department, the windows are too small, to my eye the thing actually looks chopped. It'd be fun though to go wheeling w/ an H3 owner and see how it compares to the KJ.
