A question if i may, in US do you guys have the same cr*p mirrors as us in Europe? .They are heated(works fine),Glass is electrically movable(works fine), and mirrors fold in via a switch when you park up ect(work for 5 mins then pack up). Or are yours manually folded in type?.Thanks.

On my 06 limited they are heated and remotly adjustable but they don't fold by them selves. I've not tried folding them manually though

US spec KJs don't have the power folding. But they do manually fold in. As far as I could find, it wasn't even an option.

Heaters are an option. So some of us won't have heaters.

Power mirror (glass) direction control is an option. So some of us won't have this function, but all will be manually controlable.

Do you have the headlights that are electronically adjustable (or speed sensitive auto-adjustment) too? I'd love to have both the EuroSpec adjustable mirrors and the power folding mirrors. Slightly cost prohibitive here though. :(

Oops, I meant to say, "I'd love to have both the EuroSpec adjustable LIGHTS and the power folding mirrors."

Which ones are junk Sir Sam? The mirrors, or the lights? Not like I'm going to spend that much money doing a conversion anyway, but...

Sam is right the power folding mirrors are crap and fail to work in a short time, the adjustable headlights are good and dont cause any problems and are useful when you have a heavy load in the trunk. The reason i asked the question in the first place was i,ve seen mirrors advertised in Us that are cheap compared to over here and i was considering changing mine to some of the manual folding type ,but the connector on the loom would be different as it would only have the wires for heated glass and adjustable glass and i dont fancy hacking wires and trying to sort out which wire goes were. Thanks for the info .

Jimmy I would be happy to pickup a set and send them to you.

If you dont want to hack any wiring you could remove the pins from your plug and insert the pins from the new mirror.

However(without looking at the FSM for the pinouts) I would suspect the plug is the same, only lacking the additional few wires for the folding option(this is the case with the heated vs non heated here)

Do you think the connectors will be the same ? . I have looked at a picture of some mirrors for sale in Us they are not genuine they are made by kool vue (they are heated and mirror glass is electrically adjustable )and the plug socket has 8 pin holes in it,are all 8 holes used on a mirror that has heated glass and glass that is elecrically adjustable??.

No, not all are used. There are extra pins for the mirror folding, they are just missing on the mirrors without it.

I'd recommend getting new OEM mirrors, those aftermarket ones are cheaper and the glass will vibrate and rattle alot more than OEM.

OEM ones will cost about 85-90 USD each. I know thats probably about twice as much as the aftermarket, but for you with the trouble of shipping everything, I think it would be worth it to spend a little more and get good OEM stuff.

Will probably get some then,as my alternative is to sell a kidney on ebay and buy dealer electrically folding ones and then watch them stop working 3 months later, they start off by getting noisy then start to stick then they dont move at all and finally they seem to work loose and flap in the wind and move whenever the doors are closed.I hope the person who designed them has been taken outside and shot.Or i could weld my doors shut and enter/ exit the vehicle dukes of hazzard style...yea hah roscoe peco train.

We have to sell both kidneys and one lung in Australia....they are $900 each. Same design as the Euro version but so far mine have not failed after three years use.

$900 for a freakin' MIRROR?!?! WTF? That is ludicrous! At that point, I'd just get an old metal post motorcycle mirror and weld it to my dang A-pillar. What a joke.

BTW - It's "Rosco P. Coltrane." The P stands for Purvis, which was that character's middle name. Man, I used to love that show...

Ok, I will look into getting you RHD mirrors, what may end up happening is that you have to get LHD mirrors and then swap your heated glass elements over.

Yes, they(Jeep and many other vehicle parts suppliers) think they have us over a barrel in Oz. I have a spare pair of kool vue mirros as emergency spares. I got them when I heard about the price from Jeep and some people having problems. They actually seem to be reasonable quality, look identical and I bet they are made in the same factory as the OEM's, like so many aftermarket things are these days. They are not power folding.
