I have never herd of this lift before so i got online and looked it up. There was a few different kit. So which one would be the better of the cheaper ones. There was one on there for $800 and with gas prices Im reconsidering my choice to even get a Jeep. Someone help me out. :D

Hurry up and use that $800.00 towards your down payment on a SMART CAR before the prices go higher.

I have a 2002 KJ Limited and love it. I drive on average 40 miles a day and my MPG ranges from 16-25. Just depends on how you drive and where, city, highway or gravel road...I only add the last because there are several gravel roads here in Vegas that people do drive everyday.

The biggest bit of advise I can give you is really do some research if you are just after MPG. Most manufactures...bend or embellish what their vehicles actually get. The new "Smart" car for example is not any better than a lot of other vehicles out there, the only bonus is, when you hit something with it you won't have to worry about all the wreckage as there is not much to the car :D That is just me being cynical though.

As for the lift, I am debating a OME and from everything I have read and the countless emails I have sent and gotten back I have confirmed that it will be that lift that I get, now the question is only when. Perhaps next week...we will see. :)

There are maybe 200 discussions about lifts on here, OME is one of the world leaders in making suspension kits, much different than a "lift kit" Depends on what you want to do with the KJ and where you will be driving it. Let us know a little bit more and we can help you come up with a game plan.
As far as mileage I have driven over 104,000 miles in the last 41 months and will continue to do so, do I care about mileage ..sure to a point but I also enjoy driving the KJ and will never drive one of those little tin boxes everyday, gotta pay to play as 03kjsport said, either do it or follow the herd into boredom...............

Like Tom said, it depends on what you want to do with your vehicle. If you are just going to be crusing the paved highways and byways, maybe a car would be a better choice. But if you plan on taking the KJ off road or on mild trails even, a KJ or KK would be a good choice. As far as OME, I don't want to "brainwash"anybody, but they are really popular on here for a reason. Fill us in on some more info and I know you'll get the exact info you want and need.

It was said before but I will say it again
depending on what you want from a vehicle will help you chose which one to get
if all you want is a car to get from point A to point B then there is no reason to buy a Jeep
Jeep is not known for good MPG but known for off road ability
That being said I also would not buy a 2wd Jeep ,basically the same as buying a Jeep to get from A to B ,pointless
I drive a moded TJ and would NEVER drive it as a DD
My wife drives a Lifted KJ on 245/75 MTR's as her DD and out side a little noise it is great but keep in mind that we knew that it would cost us more in gas but this is what we wanted
The lift is OME ,by the way

Now we are looking at maybe getting another car to use as her DD and I will use the KJ do do my running
I have a company truck but use the TJ to do my stuff on the weekend but getting about 15 mpg and not so great ride
and noisy as heck and I am getting to old for that crap I want something a little better
we will keep the TJ for "harder" off roading ,not family friendly, and we will lock the rear of the KJ and use that for family off roading and use the new car for DDing
looking at a VW Jetta TDI ,people claim 50 mpg highway

Well as for the Smart Car, I'm six foot eight, so unless I'm dressing up as a turtle for Halloween (with my head out the roof and arms and legs out the doors), I don't see that happening. But I love my Jeep, I think the only thing Im really gonna get it in to is like a drive down some beaches, and maybe a little wooded trail like once a year. See like a lot of people my KJ is also my DD so I need to keep it kinda in one piece. So a few bumps here and there is all I will be doing. Like I said in like the first five thousand post (that Im sure everyone is getting tired of), Im new to all this and I want to see where this whole off road thing goes for me. And by the way, everybody has been super awesome and helpful to me and I thank all for you. :D

Well - I'm going to duck while people throw things - but if all you're doing is the beach and some trails - you don't have to get OME - Daystar works great
All-J's $155(on sale) http://boulderbars.com/kjproducts.htm
and Taz on the install http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=26190&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=

now the Daystar will take the stock ride and make it a little stiffer - where the OME will give a better overall ride i.e. it's progressive - softer on small bumps stiffer on big bumps.
so OME is better but it costs more.

yes if you are only beach crusing or very mild off roading then I agree with the Daystar, BUT if you ever want to upgrade from the weak, soft stock suspension you know which way to go....brain wash brainwash  OMEs

you could go OME mediums for a better ride and some lift. No need for the Heavy Duty OME if you are just beaching or don't want to do a ARB bumper with winch and lights and...(insert mod here) The Mediums are where I am headed when all is said and done. It's my DD but I am doing full skids and rock rails so the lift should help me get some height back that I might lose with any additional weight. Good luck and BTW, Welcome to the board! :D 8)

800 bucks for a lift for a KJ...go price out a 2" lift from Rubicon Express or OME for a YJ Wrangler or a CJ.

http://www.rubiconexpress.com/Products. ... DAD6064983

$800 for the KJ lift is a pretty good deal, isn't it?

No kidding, $800, you might as well spend the extra 35 bucks and get the Frankenlift.
