What would have been even better would have been:
design them so they make no noise (seems they already knew)
OR
warn you in advance of ordering them
OR
discontinue selling them as did the other company.

i agree.. i warning would have been nice... we have swaybar dissconnects on our rubicon and they dont make any noise at all.. i thought these would be the same way. Oh Well.. but i'll still wheel without my sway bar hooked up.. it'll just take longer

According to JKS the reason they are so noisy on a KJ is because the KJ was built so well that the torsional rigidity of the body makes the chassis so stiff that any noise, vibration, harshness from the disconnects is transferred to the passenger cabin.

I just finished testing my fix for the "THUD/CLUNK" on the JBA quick disconnects. I am putting a FREE Service Pack together to send out to all who purchased my disconnects. This SP will be included in all JBA-5100R-SP1.

I added a pre-load washer to go behind the Click Pin. The washer puts presser on the Spherical Bush removing the play needed to remove the link. The play on the Stainless Steel Pin is giving the "THUD/CLUNK"! The SP will get rid of 90% of the noise. I still hear some noise when I hit big pot holes in the road. (But it rattles the entire KJ.)

The SP will be released the last week of June.

Email me at sales@jeepinbyal.com to receive your free SP for the JBA-5100R

i did this fix and still got the "thud/clunk" it was almost eliminated but like Marlin said... still there if you hit a bit hole or dip in the road. However i'm kinda OCD with having my KJ smooth and quiet (like a cadillac) but those noises are just the nature of the beast when it comes to dissconnects.. i didnt know that before i ordered but oh well.. live and learn. All this aside.. when it's time for the 6 inch lift i wont think twice about ordering it from JBA :)

Oh now that is pretty funny. The service pack is almost exactly what I independently came up with and installed on my JKS disconnects from the get go a year and a half ago! I have never had noise with my disconnects.

http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... highlight=

The washers will bend overtime and become slightly curved but they still keep the bushing from contacting the pin and allow it to move more freely. If you imagine the situation w/o the washer - The pin will rub and 'dent' the outer edge of the bushing and will not allow it to move as freely as it does with the washers. The only difference between my solution and the SP is that I have ground the end of the pin to an angle so that I do not need a clamp to compress the bushing to get the pin in.

I’m about to order the disconnects, but I wanted to make sure with the new fix that they are relatively quiet, except maybe when hitting major bumps????????? Kugellager, you seem to have no noise, is there anything magical that you did different from Marlin? The grinding of the pin had nothing to do with reducing the noise, right?

The grinding of the pin has no effect as far as I know. I did not change the length at all...I just ground the last 1/4" so that it was at an angle to facilitate getting them in the hole and past the washer on both sides of the hole.

What I mentioned in the link I put in my previous post is that I think a lot of people were making the disconnects too long if they followed the directions included with the disconnects at the time I purchased them.
