#1 The last 2 times I filled up I would go about 10 to 20 miles and I would hear "ding", the service engine light would come on and the gas gauge would drop to empty. I checked for a code, it was PO463 = "Fuel Level Sensor High Input". After the second time I took it to the dealer and explained all of this and told them the code number and that instead of clearing the code I left it on for them. All they did was a check for a clog somewhere, and clear the code. They didn't find anything clogged....surprise! They test drove it and said "it doesn't show anything wrong so it's fixed". I said "so next week when I fill up again and the same thing happens again I won't be charged to bring it back again...right?" They agreed. I told the service manager about all this as I was leaving he said that isn't right and they didn't actually fix it at all. Next week if it happens again I'm supposed to call and ask for him.

#2. I asked them to do the electronic pinion reset and told them the revs per mile for my tires. They said that when they tried to do that the speedometer wouldn't work so they set it back to factory settings. Now I'll have to check with the GPS to see where my speed actually is.

$72.00 and NOTHING got fixed! I'm more than a little upset with them! What should my next step be?

Terry

Its obvious they could of tried a little harder but I would just take it back next time it does it. Sometimes check engine lights come on for no reasons and go back off, they were probably hoping that was the problem.

Its happened a couple times on mine.

My code reader has paid for itself many times over!

That sucks, but I'm not surprised...

what you should do

#1 run tank as close to empty as you can and replace fuel sending unit
#2 go to auto zone and get a scanner on loan a tool and reset code your self
this way you dont have to fool with a dealer

or
go to "Joes Mechanic Shop" and let them fix it
99 time out of 100 they will be better than the dealer

You are right Jason. Today I will be filling up so I'll see what happens. Now I have another code: UO140 = Lost Comm with Body Control Module. I think I'll just start over again by unhooking the battery.

this sounds more like a loose connection now rather than a bad part and it could be all related
I would check the connections on as many connectors as you can and clean if needed

Sounds that is a major issue with the 2005's. My 2005 would not accept the revs/mile adjustment either. You might want them to set it at 225/75/16 as if I remember correctly, that is one tire size that was listed in the cpu and is the biggest stock tire (29.3" Dia.). It got me a little closer for my 235/75/17's.

I filled up Sunday, set the trip odometer, and 21 miles later...ding, service engine light came on and gas gauge went to empty. Monday morning I went back to the dealer and they checked the high leval fuel sensor. The voltage across it was real low and I had them replace it. Next tank full will tell if that took care of it.
