I tried to put the base of my daughter's car seat in the middle of the back seat (it's safer) but I couldn't get it between the seat belt clasps. She has to be rear facing. Has anyone else been successful in putting a car seat base in the middle of the back seat?

Well.. My wife and I had to go through 3 different booster seats before we found that fit for our 5 year old.. You might ask a store to see if they will allow you to try different car seats to see which one fits the best...

I had an infant Graco seat, too. It fit perfectly between two other forward facing Graco carseats. Yes, all three fit in there.

(So thankful we are down to a carseat and a booster now)

I have my daughter's seat forward faceing (she is 27 months) on the passenger side because thats where the LATCH system is. I couldn't use the LATCH system in the middle. Is it really safer to have the seat in the middle?

I installed mine the first try properly in the midlle using the LATCH system.Got it nice and tight and leveled out great. I think it's a Graco as well. However it's kind of tough using the other seat belts while using the latch system..

seat is safer in the middle ONLY IF you can get it installed properly. LATCH is set up for outboard seats only in our KJ due to the width. If you have a very narrow seat, you can use LATCH in middle.

Keep in mind that the anchor points for the belt or latch must be wider than the seat's base, or it's not installed properly.

You should not be able to move that seat side to side more than 1" measured at the base of the seat - where the seatback meets the bottom cushion.

I was trained by State Troopers. It's scary how many people have their seats installed inproperly.

Get in, put your knee in the seat, put your back against the roof, AND STAND UP on the seat as you tighten.
