ya BDS is a good lift, but it uses the stock front coils

No sir, the BDS lift does not use your stock front coil springs. The front springs would be comparable to OME medium springs pound rating wise. ThunderbirdJunkie and I installed the BDS lift on my KJ. You are correct in that they would not support an ARB front bumper. I am very pleased with both the on and off road performance on the BDS lift.

oh sorry my fault, is it all new coils the?, I thought that it reused either the front or rear coils

is it all new coils then?

Yup, it comes with new front and rear coils. You can get the lift with or without thier rear shocks. It really is good stuff and a value without getting thier shocks...I went with Rancho's.

I believe the BDS coils are about 20 to 30lb. heavier than Rusty's or oem. Good but, not quite enough for an ARB, I don't think. I'll call my buddy tomorrow (local supplier and fellow 'wheeler) to make sure. Guaranteed for life, though.

Of the BDS coils are heaver than OEM, why can't they hold a ARB? The total price of the BDS installed is about $800 so this isn't going to happen anytime soon, but considering you guys all seem to like it, I can get it local, and installed by a place that almost only deals in Jeep, and it seems to have a good product support, I will do it, now I just need the cash :)

They do not have the spring rate like the OME Heavy Duty's. The spring rate is just a bit more than stock. The BDS springs are not made for the added weight right on the front end and the ARB bumper will push the front end down.

So basically, the BDS will be a good lift, but it won't hold a ARB bumper. If I want a ARB bumper, than I either need to get a different lift kit from the start (OME/Franken), or get heaver front coils before I get the ARB... Is that right?

The reason all roads lead back to OME is fairly simple - OME is owned by ARB - and ARB is a big company - about 700 employees ~$150m/year in sales and all they do is 4x4 and offroad - so they have Engineers, Research & Development and a big market in Australia that they can test things on and get quick feedback.

The Rough-Country, Rusty's, Rocky's - are small - you're probably looking at 10- 20 employees mainly in sales/manufacture - R&D would be 1-2 folks on CAD programs. - it doesn't mean they can't make a good product - but it does mean it's a lot harder to deal with all the vehicles and variables in the market.

(Daystar is also small - but their expertise is injection molding - they have 1 formula for lifts and they stick with that - they don't really customize for vehicles except for the size of the spacer).

very good point! and also OME/ ARB puts all of their products through tough testing Down Under, so you know they are quality products

I wish I could find a OME dealer in Atlantic Canada... The only dealers I know of right now are for BDS and RC... Maybe I am just going to have to try and find a somewhat local dealer, and save my pennies...

Where do you plan on getting the ARB bumber? That same company should be able to get the KJ OME HD coils also(front is 927's,rear is 948's).

I haven't even decided on the ARB yet. I am starting to lean more towards a nice brush guard instead. The only place I found near me (that is still in buisness) is national 4wd, they have the arb bumper, but they don't have any ome lifts... They actually don't carry a lot of liberty parts at all, a few lift kits, and not much else :S

Enter your postal code here and if all else fails just call ARB direct and tell them where you live, they can deliver to their local dealer.

I already used that site. There is only 1 "dealer" around, there website doesn't list there kits. I could give them a call but they I get into the problem that I can't afford a OME/ARB lift this year. I think I am just going to have to wait, and give this some time, and save some cash. If I all of a sudden get some extra money, I will do this, but for now, I am going to wait till next year when I can afford a good lift. Thanks for all the help guys, I will definitively let you all know when I make my actual decision. For now though I am trying to find the best price on some BF Goodrich All-Terrain TA K.O.'s!

If you want OME you may want to just order from the US. You will likely find it cheaper. Most local companies charge a premium for that stuff. For example Cap-It Truck accessories is an ARB dealer here in Alberta and they want $1300 for an ARB bumper. With shipping All J's would be about $300 or so less.
