OK, so a co-worker of mine that is an ex-Marine who stood guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier has this YJ from 1995. It is bone stock and when I say stock I mean it. You can't get anything closer to it, lol. This is not the funny thing. The funny thing is what he uses for a tire cover out back. Below you will see a pic I took with my phone today. Now if you can, try and picture an older heavier set ex-Marine that is...well...a little jagged around the edges driving this. Then picture him tossing his hand out the window to make a turn, yes even though his turn signals work he uses hand signals also. He also drives like he is 90, lol.

There's no such thing as an "ex" Marine. He's just a Marine!

That's is pretty funny though...

where's his Marine Corp. veteran plates....he deserves to be recognized as such...and correct, once a marine, always a marine...no ex's in that sentence. ;)

I used the term Ex because he calls himself that. I said the same thing because nearly everyone in my family has been in the service except my Dad and I. Well, my father went to Military school and has training but in the end had a health issue so could not go in, same with me. Richard hardly ever talks about it and just shrugs it off as "bureaucratic crap". LOL. Not sure what all happened to him and he won't talk about it.

I do agree he does deserve to be recognized for his service and I have thanked him for it.

Just to correct a big mistake: The Tomb Of The Unknown Solider is guarded by "The Old Guard", always has been and always will be. It is Army. No other branch has anything to do with it.

Well, when I was in Arlington they had Marines at it, not army...unless they were Army wishing they were Marines in blues. Perhaps it is a position that they rotate to different branches at different times. I doubt he will let me scan a pic but he has them of him in colors at the tomb guarding it.

I may be wrong. I just did a search on the Tomb and it is Army....I stand corrected. Now I am intrigued.

Not to start an argument here but I'm a Marine and I've never once heard of a Marine Duty at the Tomb of the Unknown.

..."The Tomb is guarded 24-hours-per-day and 365-days-per year by specially trained members of the 3rd United States Infantry (The Old Guard)."...

i thought it was people from different branches... voluntary doing that special duty. cause i have seen it and i have been there. they have their own special uniform and things.. and it made sense if they were from all the different branches...

Terry would be the person to ask but all services have many different versions of uniforms. I'm not sure about the Army because I know absolutely nothing about them. Just like the Marine Drum and Bugle Corps or Silent Drill team have a special uniform, it's probably the same case with the Guard.
