Yeah, the issue is moot if ESP is going to wig out and cause new problems. ESP has gotten me everywhere I wanted to go so far, but I would be down for an investment if it was an improvement in reliability.

Well I have been hounding the Aussie locker guys for a while now and I just got this email back an hour or so after I emailed them. I asked about the rear locker and also about one for my front end, here is what they said:

"Well we have good news and we have bad news! First the good news...the
Chrysler 8.25 29 spline locker is through production and we will be
seeing some units shipped to us next Friday (current schedule). There
was an issue during manufacturing where they had to re-do some tooling
and that shut down that aspect of all production for weeks. The bad
news is that the shutdown of manufacturing put the manufacturing
schedule for the XD13027 Dana 30 Front Aussie Locker weeks late and we
are on back order for those right now and probably will be for at least
two weeks. So, hang onto the money because as quickly as we do a static
install with the units being shipped to us to confirm installation
processes we will be putting the Chrysler 8.25 on our web site and we
hope to sell a lot of them because we made a lot of them.

Thank you for your patience."

WOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A few weeks, maybe days away!

Keep in mind that the Dana 30 locker they are speaking of is not for the differential that is in the front of a Liberty. I think that was mentioned earlier in this thread, but I just thought I'd reiterate.

Yeah I know, I asked him about one going into production for my KJ and he refered to the SFA Dana not IFS, but I am more excited about the rear since I most likely will end up with a TT up front if anything at all. Not sure yet.

Okay, I must not be able to see the forest for the trees:

Where does it say that the D30 Aussie will not work in the D30a? If I am not mistaken, the only real difference in the mechanicals is the pinion length. The spider gears ( basically the only part that the Aussie replaces ) are probably the same, yes?

I am not saying it is the best choice, or one I will make, but I think that the listed Aussie will work in the front.

The Aussie or any other lunch box locker will not work in the D30A,though full carrier replacements will work between the D30 and D30A.The reason is the D30A carrier is different then the regular D30 and will not allow the lunch bix style lockers to work in the D30A carrier.

Here, it says it on the aussie site:

Right hand side of page in the middle.

And at the bottom of the page........

Quote:
Check with your Jeep dealer to ensure that you DO NOT have a Dana 30A aluminum carrier differential. The XD13027 does not fit in the Dana 30A carrier.

The detroit is like 3 times the Aussie in cost, with that money I could buy a front locker as well. But I know the detroit is a really good locker but the Aussie's price can't be beat and it is a really great locker.

If I were changing gears anyway, I would probably pony up for the Detroit. If I was not, I'd probably just sneak the Aussie in.

I'm not entirely sure I will change gears, so for right now, the Aussie is going out back and maybe if I can swing some cash here towards the end of the year I will get the TT up front. But the Aussie is a done deal.

This just in.....

"We are expecting some units to be shipped on Friday. They are manufactured and waiting for the spacers to come in from the manufacturer. As of today, we have not been notified that this is any reschedule from the Friday ship date and we have our fingers crossed that we will see some units in the USA next week. We will have to do a static install on one of the units for the installation manual and for the techs to be up on any installation questions, so if we do receive them early next week here, we will still be another week before we have them on the web site."

I received this just moments ago!

if there is no aussie locker by the end of august i WILL order a Detroit locker for the rear. despite the cost difference.. i know the detroit locker is tried and true to offroaders and i can have it in 2 days from summit. kinda getting sick of waiting for the aussie locker.. even though it is supposed to be 1/3 of the price... that doesn't help much if it's never coming out. they keep saying one more month.. end of next month.. few weeks... next week.. blah blah blah... sorry about this post by the way.. just had to blow off some steam. my locker itch is getting real bad! but i guess a good (and cheap) product is worth waiting for :(

it must be something about the raised hood. taller grille slots, and a frankenlift that does it. perhaps those are "signs of the locker itch" or maybe a mean looking rash
