So a while ago, I was removing my spare tire and while I was putting it back on the carrier I got a little trigger happy with my air impact and crossthreaded one of the studs.

I later decided to remove the carrier to find a replacement stud, while I was doing that....lol.....you know the four studs that go from the tailgate to the carrier, well the lug nut didn't separate from the stud and now is stuck in the carrier mount. I'll get a picture so you can get a visual.

Now, do I have to get a brand new carrier mount or can I get some new lug nuts and studs (part number??).

If I can salvage the carrier, how do I separate the lug nut from the stud?

A new carrier cost $70 --- LINK HERE

A hack saw works wonders for cutting bolts.

I can talk to RL tonight,we have a few of those spare tire carriers laying around, and see what he'd sell one for.

Sounds good. Where do I get replacement studs?

Generally cross threads only “cross” the first few threads of a stud. If that is your case, you can grind those threads off (leave the stud sticking out without threads) and there should be sufficient threads left to hold the tire.

I don’t know where to get a replacement stud.

Get a tap and die set and re-thread that stud. And next time - hand start that stud.

To remove this stud from the carrier - get two nuts - thread them on the stud end and tighten them together - then hold them with a wrench or vice and unbolt the lug nut
