Kind of off topic, but do those flat hood KJs have taller grille slots? Would that help with cooling any? Or does that make any difference?

yes they do have taller grille slots.. and yes it helps with cooling... and coincidently yields an extra 70 horsepower :D i hope this dang locker will add another 20hp on top of that!!

but really.. i dont think they help all that much with cooling if any. I mean my KJ has never over heated.. but i dont think that's a problem with the non flat hooders either

Stop lying, its only like 14 hp. But the aerodynamic advantage of the "normal" hood outweighs the advantage of the 14 hp added by the taller grille slots acclerating past 170

Here is the latest update not more than 1 minute old...

Scott,

Assuming a shipment leaving Australia on this coming Friday, and no unusual customs issues or installation surprises, we expect to be putting the models on the web for purchase on July 16 with first shipments starting on July 21. So, there are a number of things that still have to happen correctly and in a timely manner for us to make these dates, but we are currently feeling pretty good about them.

Regards,

Bill Cole
President

It better be, my Aussie itch is SOOOO BAD right now. Especially with the run we are getting together down in Vegas in early August. As long as I can get that baby installed by the 7th so I can use it the next week, I will be good to go.

I've got a buddy who used to be a mechanic for Cummins and a few other companies so he knows the ins and outs of pretty much any vehicle. He helped my other friend build up his rock crawling yota and so I am going to hit him up for some help on the install.

awesome!!! this is good news. i might wait and use a few of you for guinea pigs if you done mind :) then i will order the aussie and a DTT at the same time.. so that way my KJ can go from open open to a tank in a weekend :)..

jsc7002- how does your DTT effect on road characteristics of the KJ. my KJ is my daily driver and i drive it no matter what (snow, ice, rain, dry).. how would having a DTT up front effect these situations?

in 2wd you cant even tell its there besides the fact that whe you turn the steering wheel goes back to center a little quicker and off road it is just a night and day difference, Im hoping that the Aussie will do really good in the rear tho

From Bill at Aussie:

They shipped to us on Friday. There is a shortage of air freighter
space from the Far East to NY, so our shipment is in either Singapore or
Hong Kong waiting for space on an airline. We are hoping that it gets on
one Wed or Thursday. Until the shipment gets to JFK we will not be able
to schedule the first test installs for the installation manual, etc.
So, the news is that they are on the way, and we don't know for sure
when we will be adding them to the web site, but assuming there are no
installation issues it would be in the next few weeks.

...closer and closer...

Yeah, I feel bad about bugging Bill over and over, but I can't wait and without updates I think I'd go crazy.

I emailed a response to Bill after I had just received his response earlier (the one I just posted) because I was curious to know if the locker would be ready for my trips I have planned that are in August and September. This is his response:

Sure, we expect to be selling them in July. We have some questions on
installation and thrust washer sizes used in the actual carriers, but we
hope to have those resolved in a couple of weeks max. If we run into an
issue on the thrust washers we will have to scramble to get a resolution
but we are ready to get right on that if it happens.

So if all goes right I will be in the clear for my trip to Vegas and a run at the infamous Rubicon.

This just in...

Just wanted you to know that the shipment of Chrysler 8.25 29 spline Aussie Lockers arrived at JFK last night. We will have them in Rochester NY by Wed. and we have at least one test installation scheduled for Saturday. If that works with no issues, then we will be putting this model on our web site the following week. If we run into any installation issues this schedule will have to be adjusted.

Team Aussie
