I need to get the heck out fo the city!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm thinking of a trip to OBX/ VA beach or somewhere somewhat closeish to Richmond(within 4 hours) that I can camp/sleep on the beach for the weekend. Just relax and forget about life for a while. I'm still pretty new to the area. Any ideas from locs that I can go? Must be dog friendly!!!

Im not positive...and it may be a bit of a long trip for you but I believe you can do that on Island Beach State Park in Jersey. ScarletBegonias just posted a thread somewhere with some pictures of it.

If you want to go to OBX you will have to take your chances. There are two campgrounds that do not accept reservation (first-come first-served basis) so you should show up bright and early.

Check nps.gov for more details. I believe one is in Oregon Inlet.
