Near Channahon / Joliet area, just some vacant land. She wasn't really thrilled....but it was easier for me to take the pics due to the tall grass and the SNAKES !! :-)r

Sweet... send me directions. We go that direction when we're off to the in-laws. :D

Ditto... I live in Joliet. I'll take directions too, if you don't mind.

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade but I do remember a heated thread about wheeling on RR land a while back. It had something to do with RR cops showing up and breaking your knees or something.

Anyways, might want to be careful getting too close to the tracks!

Lets see... First there are very little trails there. Mostly a long fire road type out and back, with one or two creek crossings like the one in the pics.

Not "officially trails" sop use @ own risk....looks like mostly 4 wheeler trails, but there are also JEEP tracks.

I 55 South to Route 6. Jump on the Frontage Rd ( by the Manor Motel ) and head S to McClintok Rd and make a right. Stay on this to (couple miles, past the FD and over the tracks) Emperess Dr and make a L. Stay on Emperess a short ways (maby a mile) and turn into the LEFT before the tracks onto a dirt service rd that parallels the tracks (tracks on the R). Stay on the dirt service rd and eventually this rd will turn into a large field and then into the trails.

There are some RR tracks to cross and they have been built up on the sides with wood. The trail basically runs under a set of power lines.

Like I said, I have only been there once since I live in WI. Those are the best directions I can give from memory

Google earth Pomps Tire in Chanahon and zoom out, the icon should appear.

Chicagoland? Where was this at? I don't recognize it...

13th floor of the Sears Tower. They built a little play area for deprived executive off-roaders.

Looks like a fun trail fix, I am still looking for a quick little mud on the tires run around Green Bay.
