Been looking at a few 06 sport models and had a few questions for those in the know...

One was listed as 3.55 gears. I thought they were all 3.73's?? I would think the 3.73's
would be more desirable if I swap the larger tires from my 03 right? My 03 has 3.73's
and really needs 4.10's with those tires IMO.
Do all CRD's have the tow package or was that an option also same as the gas models?
Any idea if the headliner in the 03 sports is the same as the 06 sports?
Will the lift from my 03 swap over to an 06?

My understanding is that all CRD's have 3.73 gears. Tow package was optional (hitch, wiring for lights, and a marginal transmission cooler that doubles as the AC condenser.) On second thought, maybe the cooler was standard.

Lift from a gasser won't swap to a CRD without heavier springs... CRD weighs 500 pounds more, with most of it on the front axle. There are good lift kits made especially for the CRD. For a small lift you could also go the puck route with upgraded shocks.

I doubt the headliner would fit, but I can't say for sure.

The CRD is only about 200lbs more then the 3.7 gas KJ.

All the CRD's sold in the US came with 3.73 gears, the export CRD's have been known to have different gears.

Tow package was optional.

That would work, would just like 2.5" for the 245's. I was trying to figure out what all options I added I could swap over without having to re-mod all over again. If I remember I think I had to cut the headliner to fit the EVIC.

I wouldn't since the front will place more preload on the coils(no actual lift just added preload) and they will sag faster, just get the OME 790 CRD coils from AllJ's and be done with it.

Got my numbers confused. The springs he needs are rated for 500 pounds (the OME 790's).

A number of folks here are running the puck lift, I think Darby may have the most experience. The front suspension on the CRD comes "pre-sagged" stock with the CV joints already aimed upward.

Well the front diff actually sits lower and toward the driver's side...so the CVJoints are at better angles after the lift...BUT...the driver's side CVJoint is much shorter than a 3.7L so it is a good thing we have a bit better angles.

I went with the OME Springs/Struts/Shocks and can not complain at all. The ride is better than stock and there is room to fit 235/75/16 ATs without any rubbing (the front swaybar will touch the tire at full lock sometimes because of alignment issues). Honestly, the Jeep Liberty CRD should have come from the factory with this setup.

Your EVIC will not swap over to the CRD. So dont bother swapping over the headliner.

I added mine, didn't come stock and is a newer unit with large dot matrix display & home-link. These don't work on CRD's?

Correct. You will need a 2005+ KJ EVIC for it to work in the CRD

On the CRD the tow package was nothing but the hitch and wires. The CRD comes with the mechanical fan and the tran cooler regardless. So not having the "tow kit" on the CRD is certainly not a deal breaker.

Yah...and they charged the same for the Tow Kit on the CRD as the gasser even though most of the "upgrades" for the Tow Kit are already included in the standard CRD. Makes one laugh...or cry.

I have a 2004 Evic with TPMS in mine. All works and MPG is not too far off. TPMS in 2005 and later will cause issues.

How does it ride better? Softer ride?

My set up bottomed before the replacement.
I got 10cm of lift. Thought it would settle down some. Not yet.
A little high for my liking but better than bottoming out in the driveway.

If I recall correctly, the trans cooler was standard and not part of the tow package. I think you're confusing it with the power steering cooler, which was included as part of the tow package.
