I would like to buy a hitch mounted bike rack does anyone know of a bike rack that will extend out far enough to clear the spare tire? Thank you in advance

you can find them here, but your best option would be to get one thats bolts to the spare tire mount and holds 2-3 bikes, while keeping your spare tire in place. i paid .....i think....about $120 from Richard'S sporting goods last year

I bought the performance one from Performance bike. It clears the stock size tire and a 245/75/R16. If they have a bike shop in your area you can stop buy and fit it.

I have a Saris, just barely clears the 245/75R16 spare on yellocoyote's Jeep.

I have a Thule 4 bike hitch rack. Fits fine with the 245/75/16 spare on the back. Thule is an American CO and made in sweden. 5 year warranty.

Go to your local bike shop and buy it from them. That way if it doesn't work, they should help you out.

Thanks guys for the input, but by the looks of it will I have to use a hitch extension, for instance the Thule i've seen extend about 9" from the pin hole, that puts it right under the spare, I measure from the pin hole about 17" back to clear the spare, am I right?

I will check mine tonight. I have to use a 1.25" to 2" adapter on mine so it sticks out further. I will take some pics and post them later tonight.

Here is a pic WITH the adapter.

I use a hitch haul ($70) with a bike attachment for it ($35), with an extender for the hitch haul ($40). So for less than $150 you can haul your bikes, and use it to haul other things as well.

I have this Allen rack. It works great on my stock KJ, but it also clears the 33" Swampers on my YJ too.

I'm very happy with it. It's a good product.

Thank you everyone for their input, and especially Stick for recommending Allen bike racks I called them and the one you recommended extends out 21 inches which is more than enough clearance and I won't need a hitch extension which would cut the tongue weight allowed in half from 350 lbs
