Well, I'm gonna get a pair of axle stands on the way home so I can check/tighten my ebrake (thanks to the great guide on here), but figure since its up there, I should check my ball joints (I'm printing off the guide as we speak), and than I thought about rotating the tires. I alwayse get this done at a shop as part of regular maintenance, but would it hurt to do it myself, can I do this too often? I bought the vehicle almost 3 months ago, and it had all the maintenance done then, so it probably does't "need" to be done. But, could it hurt?

I get my tires rotated every 4,000 miles. I get free tire rotation at belle tire since I bought my wheels & tires from them.

I don't see any problem with rotating them more often. It is just a PITA. If you got the time go for it. I would rather use that time to be on the trails.

Do it every oil change... any more often is pointless. Some people would argue even that is too short of an interval.

X2

every 5000 miles for me using Mobil1 Oil and filter. I also have a nice, big floor jack and a level concrete driveway so a 5 tire rotation only takes about a half hour.

Every 3000miles,at every oil change, is sometimes needed if you run a aggresive/softer MT tire like MT/R's or Trxus MT's(trust me I know).AT's and passenger car tires can get away with more miles between rotations due to being made out of harder rubber, but 6000miles is the norm for tire rotations.

I've had my MT/Rs mounted for about 10k miles and they are all wearing very evenly with no rotation at all. However, I'm not one to take advice from. I've never rotated tires on ANYTHING I've owned.

The reason you rotate tires is because the fronts wear faster than the rears. Rotation them ensures equal wear, so the more often you rotate them, the quicker you will even out the wear. I rotate mine front to back, but keep them on the same side. In older tires the belts would set to rotating a certain direction, so you never moved them from left to right, but that doesn't seem to be a problem anymore. Some people rotate them across (front left to rear right).

It doesn't really matter how often you do it, just so that all of your tires spend an equal amount of time in the front, and then in the back.

I rotate every 3k. Oh, and I rotate all five. It's easier. I don't share intervals with oil changes. I use a forward-cross rotation with the spare going to the RR. LF goes to spare.

I do it every 3,000 miles. It's pretty easy when you have good jack stands a garage and air tools. Before I had all the goodies, I didn't rotate my tires much at all. Running MTR's I have to rotate them.................alot.......................I think on my last trip I knocked the alignment out so they suddenly started wearing real fast. The amount of wear on them in the last 2,000 miles sucks. Time for some new tires and an alignment.

i was rotating every 3K up until my wreck, and then for some reason (b/c of my wreck i am sure) they started wearing horribly, so then i started to rotate every 6K and they have balanced back out? funny but weird!
