I believe you need a lift for that. Try 245/65/17 if your stock.

You should be okay with the backspacing. No spacers needed.

Your going to rub pretty good even with a lift running a 8" rims with 4.5" of BS,even with the shorter 245/70's.With that BS try to stick to a 7" rim, plus a 245 mounts and functions better on a 7" rim anyway since a 8" rim is on the very extreme of the 245 rim width mounting. Also you got to think that the wider the rim the shorter the tire is,so a 245/70 tire mounted on a 7" rim will be taller then the same tire mounted on a 8" rim,and if you air down to go offroad you are less likely to blow a bead with the thinner rim over the wider rim.

Tjkj, The rims in question are Trailready beadlocks.8" only.
What do you think???

Oh you mean 9" rims then, adding beadlocks will increse rim width by about 1/2"-1"(steel-aluminum),i'd be looking for much wider tires the 245's to mount on the those rims, min 265's.

You do realize you will never be able to balance those rims right?

Bub,

Just hold off for the Frankenlift. I ended up having to go out of town, right when my Frankenlift arrived, otherwise I would be having it installed this coming week. I have an appointment Tuesday the 29th for install. I'll let you know how and goes and then get you over here to get yours installed. Then you can worry about rims and upgrading those tires to a bigger size!

The tire will fit on an OE KJ wheel
They are the same size as the GY MTR's that we run on our KJ with only OME suspension
I would just shop around for some one who replaced their stock 17's with some steelies and are now looking for some cash

This is what I plan to do when the time comes to get new tires
I figure I can get the wheels in the $50-$75 range

The legalality of beadlocks is a touchy stituation, many places will never even bother you and the others will be all over you in a heart beat.

If you want to 100% legal and still want beadlocks you want to get the Hutchinson double internal beadlock rims, they are DOT approved and you can balance them also.

I have researched this some in Ohio, and nothing appears to say that beadlocks are illegal here, either.

Hutchinson appears to be the only ones that have taken the steps ( and cubic $$$) to submit their final product to the DOT for testing/approval. Most of the beadlocks I have seen were assembled from kits and therefore would never be able to be DOT-approved specifically. Lack of DOT approval probably indicates a lack of testing, not a lack of the ability to be approved. Some may deliberately stay in the kit-only market to just avoid the trouble altogether.

The Stauns seem like a good product and a great option for those concerned about this.
