I lost my air conditioner clutch a few weeks ago when I was on vacation. I was able to bypass the bad compressor with a smaller belt to get home. What I want to know is where can I buy a new a/c clutch? The compressor its self is ok. Seems all auto parts web sites I have been to only lists a/c compressors w/ new clutches on them not the clutches alone. Does anyone know why there is not a clutch available for this unit? I would rather replace the clutch than to replace the compressor and have to pay a tech to install and to recharge the system. I was quoted $260.00 just to install a compressor that I bought. Any answers?

Sorry to hear about you losing your A/C. Sounds like a problem with our KJ's.
So far all I have done was to bypass the A/C compressor with a shorter serpentine ( Dayco 5050658) until I can find a new A/C clutch. I have only found one place to buy the clutch alone and it is $174.00.
Good luck! Dennie

A/C clutches going out is common for all vehicles, not just the KJ,thanks to mass production.
