I'm planning on wiring in my satellite radio this weekend, a good buddy of mine knows his way around car wiring so it won't be a challenge, the only issue we are trying to figure out is what the best way to take the dash off the liberty. I am told that this "could" be many hours of work. I'de rather not blow a entire day on a simple wiring job, so has anyone here taken the dash off, and maybe taken pictures or documented how? :):) I figure I will hold out until I get the car charger for my satellite radio, that way I can wire them both in at the same time. Pretty smart eh :) Thanks to you guys, I'm starting to get all "mechanical", I spent the most time in my life holding a ratchet today!

you should not have to remove the dash. if you take the peice surrounding the deck off you have pretty good access to the interior of the dash plenty room to run whatever wiring you need

Im not sure why you would need to take the dash off to install a radio.

Are you replacing the stock cd player to support the satellite radio or what?

simply remove the center portion. the Screw that holds it in is located in the small storage area below the radio next to the power outlet then just pull the trim piece will come out. Disconnect all the connections that are limiting its movement. at this point i chock the wheels and put the car in Neutral this gives you more working room. remove the radio and install.

I'm not installing a new deck! I have a satellite radio mounted to the top of the dash. It uses a cigarette lighter plug for power. I want to hard wire this in. How do I do this?

Careful with the hardwiring... Sometimes those 12vDc adaptors will have resistors in them to lower the voltage. As soon as your friend snips the end of that adaptor, you could end up blowing the satellite radio.

And you'd still only need to remove the center bezel. Pull the radio and tap into the 12v power source behind there... The rest of the dash is all duct work, AIRBAG stuff and structure.

So I can tap into the aux power by just removing the center bezel and pull the radio out? So, what is the best way to do this?
