Are there any major disadvantages to siping a mud terrain tire like BFG or Goodyear. Would they just be more prone to chipping? The reason I ask is they have 235/70r16 and 255/70r16 sizes. While I would lose power to weight, maybe I could save a little from going up to the 245/75r16 size.

I sipped my Goodyear MTR's 245x75R16's and it makes a big difference both on road and off. have about 10k on them so far. I had Discount tire do these, but I sipped the last set I had by myself.

I haven't had any chunking, took them to Moab this spring and have wheeled in the midwest a bit since then
