Is anyone running their KJ with no muffler (just straight piped)? Or would this be way too loud?

I did this on my TJ for a while, not by my choice, off roading damage. It was really loud and would set off car alarms as I drove by. I hated it for the few days I had to run it.

If you do this (or anyone else does), don't do it for too long. I ran my 98 Dodge Ram (318) with just the cat and a straight pipe for less than a year and it destroyed my cat and O2 sensors, or so the Chrysler techs told me. I ended up with a crapload of sensor problems after that. I was told then by alot of people on a Dodge Truck forum to NEVER run with just a cat and straight pipe for that reason. So I never will do that again.

Not sure if this applies to the KJ, but the fact that they are both Chrysler products is good enough for me. Just thought I'd share that experience. Good luck!

Don't do it.. The KJ likes mufflers.

There's a dude from Durango with a CRD who runs with no muffla. He seems to like it. I rode with him twice in MOAB and outside of it being slightly louder than mine with, it seems to run just fine.

When I put my flowmaster in I started mine to see what it would sound like and it was not something I would want to keep. It was pretty darn loud and didnt sound all that great.

Also tried that on the hemi wk and you couldnt talk to the person sitting beside of you.

Yes very loud, high pitched in revs I wasn't a fan.

A Turbo Diesel is a different animal...the turbo muffles and gives backpressure. On a gasser something is most likely needed for street purposes. It should not affect any sensors if you run without a muffler...but it would be loud...

highly wouldn't do this, tried mine with no muffler brutal, running a flowmaster super44 right after the cat with a turndown tip and no tail pipe still way to loud need to run the rest of the exhaust because it is still to loud for me.
