Hello from the beach. We logged 554.5 miles (adding 2.17 gallons after driving along the beach) with our Liberty this weekend. 27MPG with the added 2 gallons, 30MPG w/out adding it (she only wanted 18.5 gallons when the light came on today).

We had such fun we wondered if anyone else might be interested in a CRD GTG on the OBX? It was my first time going to the OBX and it was A LOT of fun. There is so much to do, from fishing to swimming to the Wright brothers museum, Aquarium, etc.

Would anyone be interested in going later in the year, perhaps post-tourist season?[/img]

My wife and I make a trip down OBX each year. We (Carolina LOST group) try to do the OBX Fall Crawl. A CRD meet/greet is a cool idea too! Let me know when!!

We spent last week at Oregon Inlet camp ground. Last trip there was in our then new 1984 Bronco II  Last week I got stuck in the soft sand on the path leading to the beach from SR 12. I don't feel bad as many got stuck that and the next day before it rained really hard. I hadn't aired down my tires eather :( Averaged 17-19 MPG towing our 17' Casita Spirit Deluxe that I'm guessing was about 3500 pounds over hills and dales of Virginia and West Virginia

I knew Carolina LOST did an OBX Crawl, and I'd like to get involved with that. I was thinking something a little more laid back (or not) just for the fringe CRD owners might be a cool idea. That is if there are enough of us. With only 11,250 or so produced, and no telling how many wrecked, coupled with their good fuel economy, I thought we might get the East Coast owners to converge for a weekend. It might be too late in the year. I'd never been to OBX until last weekend (and I've lived here 4 solid years), and I really want an excuse to go back :)

We'll be there for a week in September. A friend is getting married on the beach and has rented a beach house for all of us to stay in! Should be a good time. I've never been to the east coast.

We're going in Sept too. :D How about Saturday, Sept. 13th? That would work for me. Nags Head? Kitty Hawk? Where are you thinking kcfoxie?

Spet 13, seems there was some tentative event with the VWs that I was thinking of going to... but the choice of VWs on the mainland or Jeeps on the beach, well, we know whose gonna win :)

I think Sept 13 would be good. We could aim for a variety of places; Nags Head and Kitty Hawk are right on each other. Along with Kill Devil Hills. We could meet at Bodie Island Light house (across from the entrance to Coquina Beach), The Wright Brothers Memorial/Museum, or right off US64 (the main drag) at one of the many places to shop or eat (like Bob's Eat and get the hell out diner).

---we were down there for our friends wedding. Ended up having it at the reception location due to rain on the beach, but the rented clubhouse was feet from the water so it all worked out. It's such a nice place for a wedding.
