Front Mopar Skid Plate

I know my wifes 02 pre-lowered came with the front skid and no extra nuts on that one either. nice and thick too, wish I could swap them but I think one of the back holes doesn't line up.

Well when I was at the Jeep plant a while back and they saw my new front skid, ( from the bumper to the original front skid) they liked the idea and said what you need is a place to bolt your skid to ours and I said that would be great ....
so see you have a revised tmudd skid :wink:

Just to add to this: my 05 doesn't have the welded nuts.

My Jeep did not come with skid plates, so I had to buy them from Chrysler. The front skid I got did have the nuts welded on. Maybe this is an over the counter thing? Or maybe we have the skids that are for the 2005 - 2007 KJs and the later KKs and these are the KK mounting points?

I got a front skid from an 02-04, I have an 06. It didn't come with any hardware, do I have to buy to mount it to the jeep or do I unbolt existing hardware under the jeep? What is a nutzert??? :oops:

not sure that 02-04 skid will line up with your 06. I believe 1 bolt is in a different spot. I will check again tonight to make sure. Don't think you will need any nutserts for the front skid but the tranny and transfer case skids use them. Your skid didn't come with any bolts? was this a new or used purchase?

One of the holes does NOT line up for the 06'! Mine came of an 04'. If you want it to fit you will have to drill a hole to properly bolt into place. The best way to mark the hole is install skid, mark hole, take skid off, drill, install skid and tighten

I am sure there are many ways to install, just how I did it

It was used, what size bit did you use? what did you use for hardware?

When I got the skid from the junkyard it came with 4 bolts. When the hole was drilled I used one of the 4 bolts to connect the skid to the cross member. I dont remember the size of the drill bit, I just matched up one that looked right.

As far as the size of the bolt I do not know

Just find a metric grade 8 bolt that will fit and you should be good to go :shock:

There is no metric bolts that are grade 8,only SAE bolts can be grade 8,or grade 5.

Metric uses a different system for bolt hardness..............

SAE grade 5 = Metric 8.8
SAE grade 8 = Metric 10.9

I guess I just have to get under and take a look for myself. What does the skid bolt to? Does it bolt to the frame and are there bolt holes already in place to accept the bolts?
