Long story short - Left a quart of my AMSOIL 0w20 back at the house when I took the KK in for the first oil change (I do my own, but getting a factory installed oil filter off of the KK is a biatch, plus the first change is free). Guy comes into the waiting room telling me that I'm short a quart and wants to know what to do: he can throw a quart of Mobil 1 syn in to top it off or I can go all conventional. I told him just to go all conventional and I'll switch to syn after the next oil change. I get the KK back and my oil and filter were not inside. I go talk to the manager and he told me that they used my oil and filter and topped it off with conventional just like I said to do. That lead to a nice heated discussion between us and basically leaves me with this question:

To run it with the 4:1 syn/conventional mix or to drain it and start from scratch. Any thoughts? From bouncing around on the web it looks like it should be okay to run it, just that the performance gain from the syn will be reduced.

your all good... a little dino won't hurt anything. Basically you have a syn blend in it

In my opinion it won't hurt anything, and besides they sell dino/syn blended oil in the stores. If it was bad mixed they wouldn't sell it that way.

ya now its just a synethic blend, which I would never buy syenthic blend bc I was told that for it to be considered synethic blend it only has to be a couple percent synethic, so it could be 95% conv. and 5% synethic

Yea, I was wondering about that and i looked at one of the syn blend bottles once and it didn't say how much syn was in it. I guess i was curious.

That's what I figured. I guess I'm just more peeved off at their mistake than anything, since now I'm not comfortable running on it for extended mileage. I'll consider it like taking it to a Valvoline and getting ripped off for a $50+ oil change and move on.

You'll be fine...better than a synth-blend, as has been posted, since you likely have higher synth amount. I read the thread topic and instantly thought about my buddy in college who had his oil changed by a dealership, who somehow managed to drain the oil, put the plug back in, install a new filter, and drive it back to the lot...no oil. None at all.

My buddy made it about two blocks before it seized.

Since that time, if someone else changes my oil, I always check levels. Dealerships are scary. Glad you got away with just a synth blend.
