When you replaced the previous CV's, what type of damage did you see? Was there anything obvious showing you how they failed, what the actual failure was? Also, If you lift both front wheels off the ground with the TC in 2WD, do they turn freely? That may show you if the TC is not really out of 4WD. Maybe remove the front driveshaft while the weather is still warm and drive around for awhile to see if the front differential or CV angles are causing the problems. You are going to have to isolate one section at a time to zero in of the problem. Good luck.

When I replaced my cv's there were no signs of tear or oil spots. I can feel the joints are flimsey and clunking. Also just before I replace them I will hear clicking when turning.

I can spin the front wheels with out any problems. They will spin from one another.
As to all the comments about me buying non mopar parts, well I have bought them a few times. that is why I went with after market parts cuz they are cheeper to kill to figure out the problem.

Today I am going to drop the front DS and see if problem is solved. Gonna mark the position so when I put it back in I can rotate 180 and see if it still makes a vibration.

Will report later today about this.
I am sorry if I am sounding like a (richard cranium) but I am just so freaking bent over this never ending problem.......I cant drive the jeep for more than 2 weeks with out another thing goin wrong.
2 weeks ago my ac compressor went on me just days after I had my rear diff replaced. (MOPAR PARTS)

There must be some issue? I have the original axles and driveshaft, my axle tubes are cut down 3/8'' though. Hope you figure it out!

have you had the INNER drive axels changed at all ????

I was having some strange noises with mine & thought it was a bad CV, but low & behold the teeth on the INNER shaft that goes into the CV were TOAST  , we literaly had to grind off the CV to get the shaft out ( rusted shut in there) thanks to this funky NE weather we have, ofcourse wheelin in mud & water don't help either

anyways problem solved, new CV new Inner shaft all is good

the inner shaft ( $150) is a DEALER ONLY ITEM believe me we tried

I would look into this, Jeep Dawg. I had to replace my inner axle, it rusted much like raceinfan's, but was not quite so difficult to get out of the CV. A replacement axle was only $85 at Rockauto.com. It is not a 'dealer-only' item, I've also found it online at worldpartsexpress.com. I don't think it will be a cure all, though, but like anything else in life, your situation is complex. This may be just part of the solution. I'd say pull apart your front diff! It's an all day/weekend job :D It HAS to be a front diff or t-case problem, or both. But since your 4x4 works, I'd say front diff.

that is the exact issue i am having right now. pass. side axle is extremely loose. i can't get the c/v off that stub shaft. i've hammerd the doo doo out of the c/v to get it off. nothing but rust in there and it wont come apart. need a new c/v and stub shaft.

every time I replace the CV it is the whole unit with half shaft.

I am thinking about removing the lift and putting in the stock suspention and new cv's with half shafts and see how long it last. If it does not fail quick, then I know my CV angles were too high.

Okay so you replaced the front CV's with OEM and aftermarket parts, you also have replaced the front DS and they still keep going out.Know you need to find the common thing between them, the front diff? Yes it could be,it also could be your front diff mount bushings are shot thus allowing the front diff to move around to much causing your problems.I woul first look at the contion of the 3 bushings that are in the 3 diff mounts and then if they look good get the front diff checked by a really good diff guy(removeal may be needed).

Oh and if your diff mount bushing look worn/are worn I have a complet set of diff mounts from my '02 KJ with good bushing in them still.

They are external.

The one in the pic below is the passenger side one, they did change the to a alumium one but not sure when.

The one below is the front mount, mostly covers the diff cover.
Image
The one below is bolted the the drivers side just rearward of the inner CV.

Not Troy but..... they are the mounts between the housing and the body/subframe. If you get under there you can see them pretty good

but he beat me to it!!!

I had to replace my front diff bracketry to replace those bushings. They did ruin one of my brand new CV axles and wacked out my front driveshaft, which I still haven't replaced. Replacing the bracketry is quite a female K9, I used huge truck jacks at a friends shop and it still took 3 of us 8 hours total to do it.
Given the mud in your avatar, I bet your bushings are shot. Even if they look fine, take a big screwdriver and pry around them to see if they have a lot of play. Troy will chime in with how much play is acceptable, I beleive he told me 1/4". I had like a 1/2" of play.

That included smoke/toke/beer breaks, as well as runs to the parts store twice, a firewood run for the old stove heater that kept us warm in that 'ye olde shoppe', and a run to Sonic for some food. All that probably made for 3 hours at most, so still 5 hours of work between 3 guys. We were also inspecting a lot of stuff along the way and took the front diff apart as well to inspect it.
I'd say its an all day thing no matter what, you don't want to plan on getting it done in just a few hours, thats for sure!
