Anyone here installed a powertrax on an '06? I've read that there could be issues with the esp in the '06 and the powertrax wouldn't work with it.

Also they're are 2 part #'s
Quote:
The 92-0382-2905 model is for open carriers and the 92-0382-2925 for Trac-Loc carriers.

Which of these two would I be looking for with an '06 sport 4x4?

Any help/issues would be awesome, I'd like to pick one up but don't want to spend the money if it won't work.

The trac-loc is a limited slip that they stopped using after 05.

The 06 has an open diff so it would need the open carrier locker.

Where have you been dude? If you read all the posts about my 06 adventures you'll find out nothing!
I was going to put a Dtroit Locker in the rear and report back on how it works with ESP. The modifications required to make it fit were unacceptable to me so I have no reports.

I can tell you that the DTT I had installed up front works flawlessly with the ESP.

Alright, well I read it and it's all about some freakin' C Clips! Not whether or not it will work with the ESP. Is that the thread you're referring too?

Now I see why you say I would learn nothing!

Haha, now you see why I started that thread about my C-clips!

What mods did you need to do JL Rockies?

That's the one I read, it's all about grinding the C Clips to make it fit...

I got confused with the other C-clip thread. Here is another JL Rockies Locker thread

I have no reports because I was unwilling to weaken the rear axle by having the C Clips grinded, (apparently this has been done for millions of years a few people see a problem with this) but I digress. Also, if ESP and the locker didn't play well, I could not reverse it if there was grinding going on.

So I have ESP and DTT up front and ESP only in the rear and I do fine (and all is factory fresh).

The amount you would need to grind off that c-clip would be very little. You could also use it if the locker was removed later on.

I would say you can even buy those c-clips if you wanted to remove the locker later on.

Or you could have the trouble I did removing it and not grind them off. Just keep some nice 40lb threaded fishing line in the Jeep.

The ESP should not care about a locker
it looks for differences in wheel speed and applies breaks as needed ,lockers prevent different wheel speed

IMO ,dont waste your money on a power-trax ,I broke 2 both on easy trails
do it right the first time and save your self some money and head aches get a Detroit
Now no matter what you do you will have to grind down the C-clips
this is a non issue because IIRC people have been doing it for years to Dana 35's in YJ's and TJ's and the C-clips dont break but the shafts do ,the C-clip only aids in holding the shaft in the carrier
I know I make it sound like it is no biggie and if you spend to much time thinking about it the you may get scared
well let me show you this ,the Dana 44 found in the rubicon is a semi floater which means that the pressed on bearings are all that hold the shafts in them so really C-clips will hold the shaft in better than a semi floater ,44
until you go full floater ,Dana 60 or converted 44, you still have the same thing
